Again, I don't know how it'll all be, but my experience at festivals has been that people aren't standing on top of each other. Of course there are historical examples that say otherwise. My point is that it's not always a stampede scene.

Of course I got to one row behind the barricade, just to the left of Brian when I saw them in AP 2 years ago and that was complete madness trying not to get crushed.

| I am not sure as it's not up now (since the shows are over for today) but maybe this is having a livestream? http://www.myworldwebcams.com/music/bamboozle.html
Someone tweeted about it so who knows if it's true.

This bus/train thing is making me mental. Trying to guess-time this all out so I get to places on time is making me want to kick a hole in the wall.

| Tonight sucked. Before you go: add on 2h to whatever google tells you your travel time is. I had an hr and a half delay in traffic getting to the bus. I heard also the trains are super packed. The crowd is massive. If you are looking to get barricade for Gaslight get there early. Also the will call line is massive, maybe another half hour wait. And don't for a minute think you'll get cell service whenever you want it. Could barely text and/or get internet until I got away from the crowds. Bottles of water were $4, a totally plain hamburger, $7. That's all I got. Chuck and Hot Water Music were all I got out of tonight. I don't want to get into all the BS of my day because I will launch into a pity party extravaganza. But Chuck was the sunshine of my life today. | |

| OK. I just wrote out a rant. But this phone, that is an agent of the devil, deleted it before I could post. In essence, fuck everything about yesterday except Chuck & HWM, but most of all fuck me for doing all this when I knew it'd be a shitshow. Here's hoping today is better. Be nice if I could have a good night's sleep but I can see that is a pipe dream til this fest is over as it has made me lose sleep all week. | |

| I went yesterday as well. Staying in neighboring Ocean Grove so I didn't have to deal with the train and shuttle. Overall I'd say this is not the type of event trying to be upfront. You'll just miss out what's fun about this festival and the barricade is quite far from the stage anyway. Doors yesterday opened at 2pm. The first people were in line before 9am and by 1pm the line (about 4 people next to each other) stretched all the way down to the Casino. I went for lunch, and by about 2.45pm the line had dissoved and I just walked in. The wristband entry worked fairly smoothly. After checking out the festival grounds I stood to the side of the main stage. I kept moving up as other people were leaving, at the same time other people were pushing their way up out of nowhere. During the American Rejects set it got really squishy and unskilled crowd surfers falling all over the place so I squeezed out to the side again for Jimmy Eat World, which was a lot more comfortable. I couldn't resist moving into the crowd again for MCR as the Jimmy Eat World fans were leaving. Security kept pulling girls out of the crowd, probably heat/sun issues. After MCR I was so hungry I needed food. At that point I realized how crowded it had become EVERYWHERE. The line for the WindMill was so long the staff walked around with hot dogs and burgers and sold them from a plate to speed things up. I missed the beginning of the Foo Fighters but it was nice to see the beach in the evening sun and the crowd. I had the Beach Club upgrade, which is an area to the side of the stage. It had filled up by then (but not as crowded as the GA area). It felt fairly far from the stage but the screens are great quality. They also sold a much more expensive upgrade, which was a little bit of a grandstand (elevated) but also quite far from the stage, waste of money in my opinion. The show ended with a set of beautiful fireworks. Had no trouble walking back after, you just have to be patient with the crowds. Also, you can bring a bottle of sealed water inside, which should last for a while. My plan is just to take in the atmosphere and enjoy seeing TGA outside and in the daylight for a change. | |

| Sounds like its pretty crazy there. I'm on my way now. All I care about is seeing gaslight so I'll probably just get to the main stage and work my way up. Good luck to everyone else who's gonna be there. Hopefully those of you who had a lousy time yesterday will have better luck today! | |

| My issue with the screens is that in the daylight you had a big glare. Also you'd think it would be awesome to leave Foo Fighters to see someone else play but it wasn't. It was frustrating. But I wouldn't have done that for just anyone. If anyone knows how awesome Chuck is, it's this board. I also had a mad fit because I was approved to shoot MCR (not everyone was) and 15min before they went on, after I had battled my way down front during Jimmy Eat World (who I couldn't shoot cus of traffic delays), told us that NO ONE could shoot them. So F that. Sucks cus I love them. But it may not have been the band, it could have been their reps. Anyway, it was stuff like that adding to my anger. So needless to say I'll be leaving a lot more time to get there today obviously. | |

| Just got back from the last day of Bamboozle.
The crowd for Gaslight was AWFUL. I think maybe 10 people were even listening let alone singing along. Brian even said "I hope you guys aren't like this for Bon Jovi". They really played well. Brian's voice sounded better than it did in NYC (from what I could hear of it). And Brian really tried to get people into it, but no one cared. He gave maybe 3 shout outs to New Jersey and I think I heard crickets. Clearly no one local was there.
Also the sound mixing was terrible. At least where I was standing (barricade, far right). All I could hear were Benny and Alex L. Brian and Alex R. could have left the stage and I wouldn't have noticed a change in sound.
Also, the Bon Jovi fans that were 45 and up were so not prepared for being at a festival. So many were rude and obnoxious (usually I'm more embarrassed by my own generation, not my parents generation!).
Oh well, at least I managed to see TGA, and I caught most of Bon Jovi, and half of Brand New and half Bouncing Souls, so not a waste of money.

| Doesn't surprise me. Tis why festivals generally suck. A little surprised they were *that* lukewarmly received... was probably just your perception. But like, unless you're there for the headliner or are at a place like Fest where people actually show up for the music and not just the one band that isn't playing for another three hours, you are going to have a bad time. | |

I may have been exxagerating a bit when i say ten people but not by much. Maybe someone else had a better view than me but I could see a lot of the crowd and i couldnt believe it. Buckcherry went before them and got a way better response. And brian commented on it so i know i wasnt just missing something.

| No I think you read the crowd right. People around me didn't even know who they were aside from one dude and one lady who knew all the words. There was a girl who was totally wasted and was dirty dancing to Wooderson! LOL. Someone else complained about the sound to me. People were more into Brand New than I thought. I was into them more than I thought I would be! But I had a feeling this would be a challenge for them. Maybe if they had headlined Zumiez or something where they were the feature like last year, they would have had a more responsive crowd. Last year they had two stages where major people played but not this year :/ Also I confirm I heard Brian say the Bon Jovi comment! | |

| Reading these recaps reminds me why gave up festivals after the 2004 Warped Tour (at age 25). I just got too old for that shit, it stopped being worth it. | |

| I was to the very far left of the stage, one person from the rail. All the people around me were Bon Jovi fans and none had heard of Gaslight Anthem before. It was also very squishy by then and hard to move. At least from where I was standing it was very hard to make out Brian's voice on the fast songs, they need to turn his mike up more. He also sounded a little hoarse to me, probably two long flights in three days won't help. The songs just sounded different from hearing them in smaller venues, maybe it was the sound mix. Aside from that it was really cool to see them on the main stage and in daylight. I had already bought my tickets before TGA was announced so this was an extra treat (together with MCR added last minute for Saturday). I may have some pictures later today or tomorrow, have to see how they came out. Overall I definitely prefer seeing bands in small venues than the festival format but being in Asbury Park on the beach in beautiful weather was just a great event. Aside from the issues getting the correct wristbands the event seemed well run and I think the businesses along the boardwalk all benefitted. | |
