| Oh my, that is astounding! Love it!
I just hear an awesome Gaslight song - musically at least, I've never heard Springsteen in their songs at all. This is just pure Gaslight - awesome vocals, passionate lyrics all delivered with brilliant musicianship. The problem some people on here will have is that they've been building up this record in their heads before a song had even been released and now nothing will be as good as they imagined - or everything will just sound like Springsteen etc etc!!
Take it for what it is - it's not complicated - it's just an amazing Gaslight song! |

| I like it. It's definitely gonna grow on me the more I listen and I'm loving all the instrumentation (12 string etc).
ONE issue I'm having with the new stuff - Brian's vocals are sooooo condensed. The signature reverb is missing and it's taken something away from their unique sound (for me at least).

| Goose bumps. There's just something about hearing Brian sing those lyrics that makes me think about the past in a whole new perspective.
Man this album is going to be better than anything I've ever heard. One month today!!

| Here Comes My Man, to me, sounds more like it should be on a Horrible Crowes record.
45 has really grown on me though after initially being slightly underwhelmed.
It's interesting that the making of Handwritten films reference following up American Slang as a writer.
As if Elsie never really happened - given the massive links between the two bands it just feels kind of strange seeing as Brian Fallon is the songwriter for both bands.

| Initial thoughts after one listen.
It sounds old school but really big to me. Petty with more power, Springsteen, definitely. It sounds a lot like Bring It On to me, which isn't one of my favorites per se. The "oh shalala" doesn't really work for me but it's not exactly cringe-worthy either.
Second listen just completed.
This album gonna be guuud.

| We really are witnessing something special with this band. So glad I was born into an era with such an incredible band providing me with the best music I have ever heard and think I ever will hear Wish this next month would just go away now! | |

sounds like a song Brian could have written for Katy Perry, Rihanna etc etc and it would be a massive hit.

This quote was posted by TGA on Twitter last night. I wonder if it has anything to do with the mysterious appearance and disappearance of Here Comes My Man...

| What a weekend so far! Springsteen last night in Manchester (awesome, by the way) and now this. I've heard it maybe 4 times now and i think it's great. The 12 string sounds brilliant. - Steve70s wrote:

I'd not had that thought myself, but having read your comment and re-listened, i know what you mean. Funny, i always thought that Behold The Hurricane would have fit really well on American Slang. Maybe the differences between TGA and THC aren't as black and white as i expected them to be...

| Sound nothing like THC imo. Sounds like Gaslight.
Definitely a mistake, it was posted on the 45 single player after all.

| I don't get how it could be a mistake to put the song up on the official website Surely they just put it on there for a while to give us a taste and then took it down. I am glad it is gone now cos I must have played it at least half a dozen times this morning! | |

Definitely a mistake, it was posted on the 45 single player after all. Well, I'll say this: it took me a while to get used to the buildup to the chorus because the tempo and key made it sound similar to the buildup to the chorus in Behold The Hurricane. But most would agree that was the most Gaslight-sounding song on Elsie, so that's not exactly what I think of when I think of the Horrible Crowes sound.
