Speaking for myself only, I don't hate it. I just hate it in a Gaslight song b/c my brain goes "is this a Springsteen song? Maybe Tom Petty?" Verse comes in "oh it's Gaslight" and that bugs the crap outta me. This happens on a subconscious level, I'm not trying to hear these influences. The effect on the guitar is what makes me think Petty and the drums are what make me think springsteen.

This is a good sign if they want to break out with this album though

I don't feel like you're being negative. You're giving critique about something you truly enjoy. Sure, I like the intro, but if you don't, and you can back up your dislike with reasons (which you have), I see that as only a positive. Another perspective on something is interesting, and it also shows how much of a Gaslight fan you are by being able to recognize perceived faults in their work.

Hell, nothing's perfect, so go ahead and critique away

Haha, thanks. I hope you're right and it's all positive and helps them. I just feel that Springsteen only makes it as high as he does on the charts because his following is huge. That's not new people looking for music who are buying Wrecking Ball so I don't know if a Springsteen sounding anything would be a help but that doesn't mean it hurts. I mean really if you're being compared to sounding like Springsteen at least you know you're doing something right.

But really I'm not on the Gaslight sounds like Springsteen train, I refuse and I know I'll love this song in it's entirety when the album comes out, which it needs to, like now, not as a leak, they need to be like "we were kidding about the 23rd/24th, here ya go"

The July release date is really unfortunate, because with every passing day the leak becomes more and more probable.

Although, I must say, we're getting rather close to release. Just a month to go.

Yeah, I thought Brian sounded good. Much stronger than 45. It'll probably sound much better on full-release though. Rips and streaming don't do songs justice.

+1 to me for not biting the temptation and listening last night.

From here on out no listens to anything but 45 till a full album leak/release.

I'm glad I listened to it last night. I have a boner for the new album.

I'm glad I missed this too... too many accidental leaks!

Wasn't sure about the song on first listen, liked it after the second, loved it after three more. Lyrics are interesting, Brian definitely pulled off the women's point of view thing.

Glad they took it down so I can't listen to it anymore before the whole album comes out. I planned on only listening to 45 a few times but that didn't work out to well.
