Was reading through the remaining posts here and had to log in to say Jimmy if you're reading this; being a railfan is cool. Absolutely nothing beats a good train chase and I mean that sincerely. Admittedly I'm a huge buff too. People here don't realize how big of a hobby/community/etc trains are lol. I've really enjoyed watching my train photography progress over the years and I hope you're enjoying the same success. If you're interested: My Instagram
My passion for the railroad lead to my career (train dispatcher for Amtrak) and my girlfriend loves it. If you do it right they find it interesting because it's different. Trains are cool, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Good to see you, dude!
Good 'ol Jimmy usually shows up in these threads when you light the beacon. Last time I talked to him was about a year ago, I sent him a message and he replied. I hope he's doing well. I just sent him another one, hopefully he joins us again!

Honestly- my life has been rough: Lost a second father to me, from the C word we don't mention. I ended up getting a new job since the last time I solidly posted on here. The one I had in 2018 didn't pan out. My depression has gotten worse. I gave up dating for good, since even dating sites don't work. I was supposed to see Brian in January in Pittsburgh- that fell through since it was canceled.

That sucks, dude, I'm sorry. Are you taking any meds or seeing a therapist?
Oh and what do you do for a living now?

Also, Johnny my dude, you've been a member for over ten years and you still don't have a profile picture (or avatar as the forum settings call it). That really grinds my gears and I sincerely hope with all of my heart that you get on changing that asap.

So how's everyone doing?
Today I've gotten a no on the apartment I was in line for, a no on the job that I was VERY close to getting, not to mention a summer job I was also pretty close to getting. At least spring is nearing, it's sunny out and I've started playing music with a really cool guy, so there's that.

Oof man, rough day. Sorry to hear. The weird thing with job searches is you'll end up in the right spot if you keep looking. Took me about five years to find the right job in my field, including a few years of working in terrible/toxic work environments. I learned just as much what NOT to do as what to actually do, so I guess it was kind of beneficial in that sense. It'll work out for you, might just take longer than you thought with some shit jobs in between lol. The key is to keep looking and apply to as many desirable positions as possible. I would look every couple of weeks when I was searching.

And I was contacted by a local jail that needs workers in the summer, and they gave me an interview. I got the call barely a day after sending my resume, so that's cool! My girlfriend worked at another jail last summer and said it was a really cool job.

I'm a lawyer. I did private practice for about 3 years (criminal defence, insurance defence, family law) and then had enough of the long hours/stress so I went in-house to a big corporation to do insurance defence for more work/life balance.
Getting a job at a jail sounds interesting. I've been exposed to a bit of it (visiting clients in jail) and the guards/staff were always really cool and nice. What would be your position?

Ahhhh I see.
My position would just be some kind of regular every day staff! Keep the inmates company, get them in and out of their cells, whatever regular every day staff does.

God damnit, my dog Benny got sick again. Swollen lymph nodes again (after having surgery to remove a cyst on his neck a few months back). None of his vets can provide a diagnosis but it looks like it could be Addison's disease. Poor lil doggo spent the night on an IV at the vet. This was me fucking around with him at my old office

Poor Benny! Is it serious?
I recently got diagnosed with shingles. Which I barely knew existed. It's one of the most harrowing experiences of my life, and one of the worst parts is that I don't even know if I've hit the pain ceiling yet. It may possibly get worse before it gets better. And today is my bandmate's birthday party! What a week.
That office looks super corporation-y, do you work at a similar location now?
