POLL: Favorite song off Get Hurt (initial reaction)

Figured we'd start now and maybe in a few months re-poll and compare? So vote after you've gotten your good first initial reaction.

First listen I chose 1,000 Years.

Not counting Stay Vicious, Get Hurt, Rollin and Tumblin and Halloween cause I've heard them many times already.

Bet my favorite song will change within a day because I think the album is pretty awesome:)

maybe this poll could be edited to allow several choices, as it might be hard to pick a real favourite; that may give a better idea of which songs are the most popular

6 Votes now...all for songs that weren't released prior  and I enjoyed Stay Viscious, Get Hurt and Rollin' and Tumblin' so this is getting me pretty excited!

"Mama's Boys" is a great change of pace from everything they've ever done in the history of ever. A relaxed, loose country-tinged Gaslight track? Is that possible? They're ice skating down in hell.

Have Mercy is growing on me as one of the album's standouts. iTunes bonus track my ass

Sweet Morphine and Mama's Boys are golden. The rest of it can get a girlfriend.

I put Dark Places, but the more I listen to the whole album, the more I really like everything other than Underneath the Ground (sounds unfinished) and Helter Skeleton (sounds like filler). I even really like all of the bonus tracks though, other than Have Mercy, I can see why they aren't on the main tracklisting.

Great idea! After reading all of the (mixed) comments on here I am incredibly excited to listen to the full album. Hope it'll be streaming over here soon!

Surely after 37 votes the most interesting finding is that there is no clear winner, which attests to the album's variety and, IMHO, its considerable quality. People’s choices re. Handwritten were much clearer, I seem to recall.

Selected poems but 1000 years come close. On the other hand I have the helter skeleton lyrics in my mind since ysterday, so...

It's so funny because I just can't get on board with 1000 years. Can't put my finger on what it is but it doesn't sound right to me.

Dark Places is my favourite at the moment, 1000 years is great, and Have Mercy well yeh how that doesn't end up on the album proper i don't know, I'm gonna make my own version of the album in which that is the last song, the other 3 bonus tracks seem out of context to me.

Might be mine as well. The one-two punch of "Stray Paper"/"Helter Skeleton" is awesome, probably Brian's most badass songs.

That's what I did. Have Mercy comes after Dark Places. The other three bonus tracks make up what I called the 'Get Hurt EP' for which I use the deluxe cover.

Underneath the Ground. The lyrics/atmosphere/spoken word segments go together so perfectly. It shouldn't work, but I'm so glad it does.

Not much love for Stay Vicious, way underrated. Love everything about it, from the heaviness down to the weakly uttered "...yeah".

Funny how these guys can always turn a cruddy life around every 2 years.

That was my vote, actually. I actually like the way the verses and choruses work together (the way the heavy riff kicks in after the quieter chorus ends is amazing).

Halloween might be the best track on here tbh.

If only this was the first time we heard it.

Surprised that Dark Places takes the cake right now.

It's Break Your Heart for me...it's just stunning. Followed closely by Have Mercy and Dark Places, and then probably Stray Paper.
