Honorable Mentions: Hot Water Music, Nico, Jim Ward/Sleepercar, Sound Tribe Sector 9 I was considering adding Tom Waits to my honorable mentions. I hate against me! post SFAFC, but when I was 14-16 I loved them. Lucero, Pearl Jam, and Lou Reed are damn good too. //edit and hot water music, don't know how I missed that.

| They sealed their fate for me when AM! had Crime! taken off of PIX Records to distribute themselves. PIX is a DIY label, and Crime (back in 04-05 at least) was their best selling album, so why screw PIX?
I literally asked tom why this decision was made, and he said, "Well, Crime was never really on Plan-It-X, it was just a deal among friends to help distribute us. We can sell it better ourselves."
So according to Tom, from I can gather, Money > Friends __
"our arenas, just basements and bookstores across an underground america" right after RAR was released they toured with Green Day and played at Giants Stadium.
Nothing that AM! has done since 2004 has mirrored their "anarcho" roots/style, and I don't care if Tom Gabel likes Chumbawumba more than punk music.*
**I read in an article somewhere that when he started AM!, he was a huge chumbawumba fan, and that was his ostensible reason for showing why he wasn't a true militant punk.

| thats interesting since Crime is now issued via Sabot Productions which I think is owned by the Band's manager. Also from what i understood, AM! never had a contract with PIX so thats why I Crime was taken off PIX...for me, I was hugely disappointed that Warren left/got kicked out...that did it more for me. |

exactly, Jordan runs Sabot and AM!, and Crime didnt have a contract, it was "a deal among friends" according to tom. Warrens new restaurant is pretty good. It's called Boca Fiesta I think. It's in Gainesville.

| Ok, so I'm gonna show my age here, and it's hard to pick, as I am trying to judge by overall output, rather than perhaps by my favourite one off songs or records, but here are my top ten 'bands', levelled where appropriate:
1. The Gaslight Anthem / Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band 3. 10,000 Maniacs 4. The Who 5. REM / Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers / AC/DC 8. The Levellers 10. Stereophonics / Oasis.
Honorable 'band' mentions: Pink Floyd, Rainbow, The Clash, The Pogues, The Hold Steady, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hurt, The Arctic Monkeys, Editors, The Killers, etc.
My top 5 'solo' performers, also levelled where appropriate:
1. Elvis 2. Patti Smith / Tracy Chapman 4. Bob Dylan / Maria McKee
Honorable 'solo' mentions: Pete Townshend, John Watts, Bob Marley.
Jazz: Keith Jarrett.
Classical: Richard Wagner.
And if I don't post it now, I may reconsider the whole thing.

| I'm kind of surprised Social Distortion didn't make it on anyones list, not that I'm really a fan I just got the feeling like people here were or maybe its just because Brian's such a big fan. | |
