| Also I loved this new song they played called Look Alive, it was some strange Rap, Metal, Country hybrid but it was fantastic! | |

| I saw them after Franz quit and they had three guitars and keys. Its about time they released some new stuff really, one of the best live bands I have seen. | |

| They really need a new record. I'm a huge fan, but I find myself almost forgetting about them because they haven't had a formal tour in the NJ/NY area nor released anything in over 2 years. | |

| Not only was Craig Finn on the balcony at the Handwritten release show at Webster Hall last night, but Dave Hause played a verse of Constructive Summer during one of his songs! | |

| Makes sense that Craig Finn is a Gaslight fan, and probably vice versa. Both have punk roots and are Springsteen inlufenced. I was pretty surprised when Dave Hause played constructive summer, it was pretty awesome. Wonder if he told Craig before the show he was gonna do that. | |

| Well they have been playing a few new songs on their recent tour, so hopefully that means a new album at some point. For me the albums in terms of quality / how much I like them goes.
1. Separation Sunday (most) 2. Boys and Girls in America 3. Almost Killed Me. 4. Heaven is Whenever 5. Stay Positive. (least, although I still like quite a few songs on it).

| Granted, he is ex-Hold Steady now, but heading down to Dundalk to see Franz, on Monday night, really buzzing for this one. Should be a great night, tiny venue and all. Fun times ahead! | |

Went and bought tickets to Dundalk, promoter was changing start times all over the weekend, eventually phoned them up, and turns out I found out it was cancelled before Franz! He tried to do an impromptu free gig in Dundalk last night, that seemed to get cancelled as well Thankfully a Belfast promoter has stepped in, and put on a free show in Belfast on Thursday night for him. Poor guy is having no luck. Hoping his show in Cork tonight goes well.

| I hope the new album (whenever it may come) is the start of another epic string of records connected together.
The first 4 have a pretty semi-linear story with depth-heavy recurring characters and an overall general theme, which made me fall in love with the band. I think of Holly, Gideon, and Charlemagne like I do TV characters- I'm pretty attached, as weird as that sounds.
Heaven Is Whenever, while fun, didn't really have the same staying power. You didn't "know" many of the characters, and it just didn't fit with the rest of the catalog.
They need a "reboot" of some sorts--- I don't know how much longer they can just live off the glory of the first four records (not that I'll by any means complain).

| I'm not sure what's up with that underwater effect on Finn's vocals. I'm hoping that's not indicative of what the album will sound like. I think the song is good but the production brings it down a bit. | |

Those are doubletracked vocals, dog I don't think it'll be totally indicative of the rest of the album. It wasn't even used on the entire song. They've used this in the past too (the one that comes to mind is Curves and Nerves, an Almost Killed Me B-side).
