Who else is attending Friday's show? I know Simo on here has tickets...I'm roadtripping with a buddy from PGH. Any good "normal" places to get a beer before hand or after?

I'll be there! just caught Brian's acoustic set in KC and it amped me up so much more for this show (like I needed that..) I'm not too familiar with what's around The Firebird as it's only been there for a few years and I haven't lived in STL in over 5 years so my recommendations would be comical/useless. See you all at the show!

There's not a ton of stuff around the Firebird but you are only a few blocks from the SLU campus so there are probably places there. It is also near Pappy's, which is one of the most popular BBQ restaurants in town.

go to the Delmar Loop after. lotsa stuff to do there on weekends. also the Landing, there is a casino there and plenty of bars. if you take the first exit past the Poplar Street bridge in Illinois, there are 2 strip clubs, a nightclub and a bar that is pretty much 24 hours. Sauget is sin city of the metro east, check it out!

I will be the first to comment on the concert as I was the one who started this stinkin' thread anyway. 5th time seeing them and best of all them. No chance at getting an accurate setlist. But they did play 7 song encore with-- are you ready for this? --- she loves you, state of love and trust, drive, we came to dance ( and the dude standing behind me asked " is that song from their new one?" I was ready to tell him to leave. Then it was stay hungry stay free and then 59 sound and then baba o'teilly. Great set great encore. I told my buddies that based on the performance at their show i still owe them 100 dollars. Incredible. Thats all i can say. Best one ever. Thank you gaslight. I dare you to find a better band and better performance. And yes im jaded bc I just saw them for the 5th time ever.
Awesome.
Any other comments?
Steph-I just edited my rambling post. I has two drinks at the show. You're seeing my unbridled passion for.TGA, thats all.

that show was incredible. shit got crazy during that encore. i got pushed up towards the front into a girl (unintentionally) and she turned and punched me straight in the face, haha. i mean i was kind of shocked for a second, but just laughed it off, it's not like i was trying to push into her, i was actually trying to do the opposite.. oh well. haha. she looked so pissed and stormed to the back of the venue. (if you're that girl and reading this..sorry, i wasn't trying to push into you, haha) Baba O'Reilly with all the crowd surfing was intense. I havent been in a show like with that much energy in years. Talked with Brian for a few minutes outside the venue after, nicest guy ever.

St. Louis Friday. Firebird Roll Call. 6c818a92cdfd11e19cc822000a1d00e9_7

a few notes from the show
- People have asked about the guys hanging out this tour and it seemed about the same as before. They were around early at various times before/after soundcheck and signed things for a few fans. After the show, Brian was still talking to everyone and taking a million photos. Benny spent a good deal of time chatting with us at the front of the line before doors opened and then hung out afterwards too.
- They soundchecked Handwritten, Too Much Blood, Boomboxes and a few other new songs that I'm blanking on.
- Dave Hause joined Alex R for backing vocals on American Slang.
- The Blood Bank tag during Angry Johnny was quite long. Brian got through like 2/3rds of the song, through the "and we started to kiss" line. He said something after the song like "wasn't sure that was all going to fit there". Some people asked what song it was and Brian told them, saying the Bon Iver albums were both good but the Blood Bank EP was especially great. He's right.
- Towards the end of the set, Brian and Benny seemed to have an exchange about adding more songs. It looked like Benny was up for it but they ended up just playing the printed setlist. Then they added three songs to the encore.
- Benny threw me a water at the start of the encore and saved the day. Big fan.
- While the crowd was into it during the main set, things got WILD during the encore starting with Drive and pretty much continued through the rest of the show.
- Benny asked if we wanted to hear State of Love and Trust before the show (of course we did) and texted Brian about it. They definitely love playing it and I love hearing it.
- Dave stage dived during The '59 Sound. I happened to be looking his way and he had a "I'm going to jump into the crowd right over the top of you" look on his face which was followed by him doing so off of Alex's monitor about 3 seconds later.
- Brian had a pretty serious stage dive/crowd surfing during Baba. He also attempted to throw the microphone through the supports above the stage but was unsuccessful, so he ended up throwing it back and forth a few times with the tech that was stage left.

- Dave's opening set was great as usual. He told some funny stories including something like "Not sure if anyone has taken mushrooms for 2-3 days in a row but I don't recommend it, all that happens is I ended up with this crappy song. Well it's not that crappy." (about Prague) He also took a few requests - The Bridge with a bit of Got Some by Pearl Jam on the outro and at first said he wasn't going to play Trusty Chords because it wasn't his song. Two songs later he said "fuck it, I'm going to play that one". Then he told crowd that if they loved the song as much as he did, they should sing along instead of trying to record it with their phones. Dave threw in a "Transgender Dysphoria Blues" during the outro to Autism Vaccine Blues which got a cheer from the crowd. He played a pretty killer medley of 100k -> Coma Girl -> Constructive Summer -> 100k. For the outro of Resolutions, Dave namedropped Frank Turner and Handwritten (put Frank Turner/Handwritten on and open up your ears...). And as mentioned before, he closed with Jane joined by Benny and Alex L. Hopefully they continue to play it because it was awesome. I'm not 100% on the order but this is close to what was played - Heavy Heart, Pretty Good Year, Time Will Tell, Prague, The Shine, The Bridge, Pray For Tuscon, Trusty Chords, Autism Vaccine Blues, 100k, Jane.

Wow. This ended up a lot longer than I anticipated but the show was great and I wanted to share some details. Hopefully it was worth reading.

Nice summary Ral. I think the only reason Dave played "Trusty Chords" is because he busted a string on his acoustic and it screwed up his set list.

/\ appreciate that review of the show above, very accurate from what i saw and thought. dave hause was great, the mushroom story was hilarious.. I'm going to have to check out his solo stuff now.

this pseudo-review (?) reminded me of some of the little things that gaslight did during their set. i couldn't be happier with the setlist, as they played my 2 favorite songs "she loves you" and "even cowgirls get the blues". You're completely right about things started going absolutely nuts during the encore..the crowd escalated quickly.. so much fun and so much energy/craziness there.

Is he there with a full band, or is he really flying solo/acoustic here?
