This is probably the best acoustic set I have heard from Brian. Every time he does Great Expectations acoustic it gives me goosebumps.

I agree it is pretty awesome, sounds like they had some sound recording equipment decent enough to drown out all the noise.

shit, that live recording really is awesome. great expectations sounds so good acoustic. its funny, i never thought that one could come off as good acoustic as it is with the full band, but it really is great.

His comments on The Replacements, by the way, now make a lot more sense. When they're good they're great, but when they're bad...

Yeah I agree with Brian on The Replacements. They have a few really good songs. I only have six of their tracks on my iPod so I could never say they were a great band.

Ok, I will admit that some of their early stuff was hit or miss, but the trifecta of let it be, Tim and pleased to meet me are, in my opinion, three of the best albums of all time. The problem with the replacements is that they could not get out of their own way and were their own worst enemies when it came to success. They are like the punk bands that Brian spoke about who seemed to be embarrassed by their main stream popularity.

I thought the interview was absolutely brilliant, it was great that Brian was so frank with his answers, and love that he can flip between making goofy comments about the Mayans and insightful comments about his beliefs and his journey.
Just listening to the set now - awesome stuff so far!

Try Audacity if you're on a PC.
It will record the audio in real time.

I get the impression from this interview that Brians struggling to adjust to how popular his band is becoming. they strived for more people to like their band and now its that time where they've got so many fans and people interested that theyre starting to want the privacy and anonymity back. At least in their personal lives. Its fair enough. No one wants to be photographed on their front porch by some stranger but it sounds like he wouldn't take kindly to a fan talking to him in the local 7-11either which i think is a bit much. I'd like to think if I bumped into him in the checkout line and just said hello, im a fan, love the new album or whatever else came into my head, that he wouldn't get pissed off with it and would be cool. Im not too sure he would though. Just some thoughts anyway.

He wouldn't get "pissed off" in these sense that he would start yelling at you or give an attitude. I believe he would be nice and friendly because he knows how much it means to the fans. Also as long as you don't annoy him to death
But yes subconsciously he might be a little irritated. but I mean how would you feel if you were just trying to buy something and have a normal day, and your employer comes and starts bothering you about work.

Yeah I see what you mean although I think Brian is a good guy and if a genuine fan praised his work I don't think he would react badly. I'm sure he would appreciate it. I can understand that he gets pissed off at people intruding on his privacy though. He does seem quite a private guy and doesn't want people sniffing around him all the time to see what he's up to.

It's not working for me either. I've tried it on my iPad and on Internet Explorer and AOL, and it won't work after the first few seconds. Grr!
EDIT: Try this: http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com and look for the video on the right hand side of the page. It's working perfectly for me. Brian is hilarious!

Wow, that acoustic set is magnificent. Anyone who can provide an audio rip? Audacity doesn't really work well on my computer (horrible sound).
Damn, that man is on fire
