We've decided we're friends, nothing more, and that's what I'm comfortable with at the moment. I'm shockingly already okay with this.

I know he emotionally cheated on his gf with me. Which is pretty bad and I feel terrible about it, but I need to move on from this and I am going to. I didn't know he was doing that until after the fact, but now that I know, I'm setting boundaries.

Look at it this way Mac, if he did it to his gf, there's a high probability he would of done it to you, and or will do it to another girl.

That's exactly what my friend told me the minute I found out he has a gf. And I know that there's that risk. And I don't want to be in that situation because right now, being the other woman, if even for just a day, is eating at me. I don't like this situation at all and I hate that he put me in this situation, but there's nothing ele for me to do.

I'm trying not to! I have a lot of Catholic guilt, lol. But I know that this is all on him. No one else. And he has to face the repercussions.

I don't think you have anything to feel bad about at all! It's totally understandable you'd feel badly.

It's realllly difficult to meet a guy/girl who even remotely possesses the qualities you're looking for in a mate. When you meet one and they're already attached, it's upsetting enough. If they're seemingly returning the feelings then that makes it all super messy.

Maybe it's sorta relieving at the moment because you know where things stand (that you're just going to be friends) and have some kind of closure. That's always better than when things are up in the air and vague.

Anyway, his loss! You'll meet another guy who you like that will want you and only you Smile

Hopefully!

It's just tough because he's everything I look for in a guy — in terms of physical qualities and personality — and it's so not fair at all. Like, I've dealt with falling for guys who are taken and I never get involved and I admire from afar. It's different when he's totally interested in me and checking me out. And genuinely concerned about my well being.

Argh.

I need some time to get over this completely.

I am SURE there's going to be a lot of guys more interesting than him not hiding a girlfriend!
I've been through that and it's just a matter of time, I know you don't feel like it's going to happen but it will! Hug

You should feel good about the fact that you know enough not to pursue it. Better to accept things now rather than later when it'd be much worse!

I don't think you're missing out on someone special anyway. He shouldn't be messing about even if he hates his girlfriend! But I think that point's been made.

Just listen to some sulky music for a bit and you'll be fine Wink

I know, I know. It's a good thing that I'm mature enough to know not to pursue it but argh.

What killed me is him telling me to take all the touchy-feely stuff as a "friends thing." >_<

And yes. Sulky music is good. I've been listening to some relatable Springsteen music, so that works out well.

I think we all know the issue isn't the touchy-feely stuff. It's the other stuff! One of my guy friends could hug me 30 times in a day and I'd never take it as more than friends. But if it were a guy I was into and he was sending a bunch of other signals he felt the same, well then it's a different story. Better to do what you did- be honest, you get your answers, and can move on living in reality!

The sulky music really works wonders to cheer your mood up. Trust me on this, I do it all the time.

Yeah, he sent out SO MANY SIGNALS when he was being touchy feely. Which is why that tipped me off. And argh. I'm just bitter about this.

I guess it is better to have felt something...than to have never felt anything at all.

At this point, I would honestly rather have felt nothing at all if I knew it would hurt this much.
