This is a cover of Kelly Clarkson's I Do Not Hook Up, i took the version Brian did and then kind of thought how would Horrible Crowes do it. This is what i came up with, let me know what you think: http://soundcloud.com/hollsteady/i-do-not-hook-up-shaun-holland

That cover of Arcade fire sounds like how it would sound if 80's Matchbox B-line Disaster did it!!

Is that you singing Holland?

DId you guys see the covers on Jimmy Fallon this week? John Legend took Dancing in the Dark and made it a whole other song.

(Harbortown- I often think that as well, that our responses are totally ignored. Nevermindajunkie indeed.)

Not one of my favorite covers, but that basically boils down to the fact that I'm not a huge fan of the song, because as always you did a great job producing and singing.

Sounds good Smile

I don't know that there's a different direction you can take with the song unless you put it in a minor key and made it more threatening. "I do NOT HOOK UP!" *pulls out flamethrower*

http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/blogs/2012/03/john-legend-performs-dancing-in-the-dark-with-the-roots-for-springsteen-week/ John Legend's cover. He did an amazing Adele cover too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejQ08ddAdQU

What a voice that guy has, he could sing anything and it would be immense. Not exactly my favourite style of music though.

yeah i like jazz but that style is a bit smooth for me... however i thought he did a great job in bringing out the desperation in the lyrics, which is really what makes the song in my opinion.

might as well throw this out there, it's me, in all of today's acne-breakout and bad facial hair glory, doing Give My Love to Rose.

Your guitar playing is great, it remains steady and even throughout the song.

I like your voice, maybe you could try climbing up and down the vocal scale a little bit and not just stay in the same range the entire time, but I liked it. Well done.

Anyway, here's my own cover of Bad Religion's Sorrow. It's one of my all time favorite songs and I've been meaning to make a folk cover of a BR song for years now, and I felt like I have the means to do it now, so here it is.

Harbortown?! I loved your cover here! I've always liked their acoustic version of that song...but this was almost better! Was that a little banjo I heard in there?

Thanks, man!

Haha nah it wasn't, but I did try to emulate it as closely as I could by fingerpicking a banjo pattern on the high register of my guitar.

Holland that was awesome. your voice is totally ace. you're in a band, right?

so i'm doing this cool project for my grade 12 social studies class. we have to find a protest song from the 60's/70's/early 80's and design LP cover art for it. we have to use images from events that inspired the song and discuss them with the class. (btw any suggestions? i was thinking What's Going On or Who'll Stop the Rain)

so i got to listening to some CCR, which led to singing some CCR. this is my cover of Fortunate Son; i'm kinda trying a new singing voice with this one.

Oh, so I learned to play this about a year ago. I've practiced it off and on over the last year. Finally got around to recording a vid of myself playing it. Let me know what you guys think.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlEKXTnCf2c&context=C49126d7ADvjVQa1PpcFOdQ5H6Div9l-nLji2Tlkbg5ZfdKdgg80g=

Also, I have some other Gaslight covers, if you're interested. A few of them....need some work to say the least. haha But, anyway you can check 'em out if you have time.
