| After hearing Brian play I'm On Fire the other night, I got to thinking what other covers would work well in the live setting, both solo and with the whole band.
I would love to hear:
My Hometown...Brian solo No Surrender...I think this is one of those Bruce songs that you could see Gaslight doing. It really fits their sound well
I think it would be cool to have a Johnny Cash or Dylan cover thrown in there as well

I think it would be cool to have a Johnny Cash or Dylan cover thrown in there as well Hot Water Music do a fantasic cover of "No Surrender." it's on "Til the Wheels Fall Off" among other places. as far as Gaslight doing covers, i would love to hear them do "Kids Don't Follow" by The Replacements. it's my favorite song by them. i know they do a really good cover of "Left of the Dial" though.

Band- Tom Petty- Won't Back Down
hmm... great question... I have thought about this before, but I cannot seem to remember much other than bands they have already covered like springsteen/MATS/Tom Waits

| I would wanna hear anything by The Clash or relating to Joe Strummer. My personal favorite song would have to be "I Fought The Law", but for some reason I also think that "Hateful" might sound pretty good as a cover as well. The Loved Ones did a cover of "Coma Girl" by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, and that was pretty awesome. I just think that everybody should hear about The Clash, and since they were before my time, the way that I got turned onto them was by other bands that I liked doing covers of them at shows and piquing my interest. | |

When I saw them on the UK tour last August the support band, Former Cell Mates, played a cover of No Surrender and Brian sung with them.

I would like to see a Clash cover as well, but don't know which song they should cover I reckon Know Your Rights would be a good Clash song for them to cover, I could see Brian's vocals working really well on it.

| What about Stay Free? It's got some great lyrics in it that Brian's voice and style could really add something extra.
Cos years have passed and things have changed And i move anyway i wanna go! I'll never forget the feeling i got When i heard that you were home! An' I'll never forget the smile on my face 'Cos i knew where you would be! An' if you're in the Crown tonight, Have a drink on me, But go easy... Step lightly... Stay free...

| i can half imagine these, not sure if all these would be a good idea...
- "sittin on the dock of the bay"- otis redding
- something by the cure since alex r. has mentioned them so many times...not sure what song to pick though!
- "radio"- alkaline trio (only cause im loving the hot water music cover right now, and for some reason i can see, or should i say hear, brian singing it)
- "here comes a regular"- the replacements (i know they already cover "left of the dial," but oh well)

| As far as Clash songs go, Stay Free or Train in Vain would fit them nicely. Hopefully they wouldn't do Know Your Rights. I think that's an uncoverable song. Pearl Jam did it and it was horrendous. | |

| I don't think they should cover a Clash song, well a Mick Jones Clash song like Stay Free. Brian's voice is too NJ and Mick's voice is very London. I don't think it'd work.
I've seen the part-cover Straight To Hell, and that worked really well though.
