HEY NOW. Stop turning discussion of utterly brilliant books (like Catcher in the Rye) into talk of rubbish country singers. It's not cool.

Jimmy, as I said before, this is a thread for discussion of books, not other music. Nowhere did I mention that you'd started it. And could you at least respect my dislikes?

ANYWAY. I've just bought Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. Anyone read it?

Ahh, okay. It should be fine then. I'm willing to put the time into reading something like that if I feel it may benefit me.

I think I will buy a copy of The Catcher and the Rye next time I go to Barnes & Noble. I should have read it in high school but never did. I feel like I need to now though!

i'm reading a book called "Columbine", and, well, you can probably guess what it's about...it's pretty interesting so far, learning a lot of things that were reported about the killers that were untrue. then i have a couple books on animals to read next, and Mindy Kaling's book on my Nook!

Steph, let me know how Mindy Kaling's book is. I saw that it was out but I haven't bought it yet. I'm expecting it to be really funny! Very Happy

So I rather enjoyed this book, aside from my dislike of Hemingway. Up now: Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury.

One of my favorite books ever, is "The Power of One" by Bryce Courtenay, there is also a sequel called "Tandia" that is glorious as well, it's a bit harder to get though.

I also love the Earth's Children series, by Jean Auel "Clan of the Cave bear" was the first one. If you watched an old movie by that name, don't let that turn you off, the movie was horrible.

"The Handmaiden's Tale" is also a really really good one, can't think of the author though.

"Catcher in the Rye" is good

"Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt is good, I also liked the rest of the books he wrote

got a kick out of "Running with Scissors" and the other books Augusten Burroughs wrote

"Junkie" By William S. Burroughs" good

Big fan of Chuck Klosterman

Have read some Steven King, but there's something about his style of writing that I just don't like.

There's also a book called "My Pet Virus: The Story of a Rebel Without a Cure" it is superb. It's written by Shawn Decker. He had a blood transfusion at the age of 11 and was infected with HIV. Never met him, but he sure seems like an amazing guy. It's a great book

I could keep going on and on and on Smile
I read like crazy, all kinds of books, even picked up "Island of the blue dolphins" the other day, 'cause I remember liking it in school, grade school that is...

I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Excellent mystery/crime writer. Just when you think you have it figured out, she slaps you with a plot twist you never saw coming.

Cool topic, I could never pick an all time fav so I'm going with: DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth

I've never read a book as fast as I've read that one. It's the first of a 3 book series. It's awesome.
