| Their tour schedule gives us tremendous clues as to when this is going to happen... Notice the gap between the Atlantic City event and the next European festival. It's almost 2 months.
London on June 11th is billed as a preview. Let's assume the rest of the month will also be spent "previewing" the record to adoring European fans and those at the Atlantic City event.
By taking them off the road for most of July and August it allows the label to work its marketing magic before actually releasing the album (I'd guess) in early to mid-August. Expect heavy interviews/tv & radio appearances during that time. Then they play the prestigious Leeds and Reading festivals, which are perfect locations to launch a new album tour. Perhaps they play a big show in Asbury or NYC in September to kick off their US fall tour.
(edited to add - yes, i'm revising my earlier September/October release prediction, in part now that the European schedule has been fleshed out)

Of course. Unlike Sideonedummy, where the roster was pretty slim and TGA was definitely a star attraction, Mercury has a huge stable of artists. Couple that with the larger IslandDefJam hierarchy and TGA is one of dozens on the list. If someone "bigger" wants to release at the same time, they'll probably get priority. It all depends on how strongly Mercury feels about this album and how they want to market it. And remember: chances are the folks at the label haven't even heard the album yet. Given that Brian has said it's a very different sound than they've done in the past, there's a chance once Mercury hears it they may have to completely rethink their plans.

| Still thinking the end of June for release date, hell Hot Water out in May, and Souls in early June, and damn you Dave Hause you have heard both, and I'm sure when Gaslight is done, Mr. Fallon will let Dave get a preview, even though now I remember Dave didn't listen to Elsie, till after released. This will be out before they hit all the major Europe festivals. I predict we get first single third week of April, and I'm guessing that Christmas we get another EP of extra tracks from Handwritten sessions! ha | |

no way is there a single 3rd week in april it would clash with THC record store day release on the 21st April.

| I think they might release Handwritten before the preview show for one reason: Leakers. If I was part of the team for Gaslight's marketing/whatevergroupitmaybe....I would only release the singles, and keep the other ones until a couple days before release, since that is when they have to be shipped. | |

I also think the album will be out sooner rather than later, didnt Brian say in that interview that the Asbury Park show was kind of a goodbye to some of the old songs , so you would think at least some of the new songs will be played live.

no way is there a single 3rd week in april it would clash with THC record store day release on the 21st April. Thing is, Mercury Records doesn't care about THC, THC isn't on their label and they'll do whatever they think is best for TGA to sell the most records... I won't be shocked if they release the single around the same time as TGA.... And honestly I don't think a TGA single will effect THC record store stuff, if anything they might direct more people towards THC with a huge single.....

| Im glad i found a group of people obsessing and nerding out over the new album as hard as myself. I too hope they release it before august. I really want to have it to listen to on my vacation (last week of july). It seems like they wouldnt sit on the album for too long seeings how theyve had alot of bad luck with early leaks in the past. | |

| Seems like July is free at the moment for them in terms of touring. I think this could be released late June/early July with a 4 or 5 week US tour before going to play European festivals in mid/late August. | |

| Man, I need to stop neglecting this place! I heard about the writeup in RS and I knew it would be over here somewhere.
With the rumored appearance at Lollapalooza (it's still just rumored, right?) in early August, that would put them in the US until the mid August European stuff, likely in the US from late June to mid August.
If they're doing Lollapalooza, Chicago's only chance of a non festival show is if they do an official aftershow. The promoters don't allow any Lolla bands to play within something like a 300 mile radius 90 days (I think it's 90) before and after the festival. I went to Lolla once and it was miserable, and I just wouldn't want to see them there. I will, however, lug my 9 months pregnant butt to wherever they may do an aftershow. My favorite time seeing them is still the one they did at Double Door in 2009.
We just need a release date! We're going to be playing through nothing but Gaslight albums as I'm giving birth to this kiddo at the end of August, but I'm not worried about it being not being released by then... if it's not out before the end of August then I'm determining something to be very wrong. ha.

The baby or the new album?? Oh there's a very good chance the baby may still be hiding away after August--due on the 29th, so it could take a while... and give the band a few more days to get this album to us!
