| Side One Dummy Records has announced that the Gaslight Anthem will be another participant in record store day, a celebration of independent record stores. According to SideoneDummy's website:
[The band] will be releasing a limited edition 10" for this year's Record Store Day (4/18/2009). The release is titled "Live at Park Ave." and, as the name hints at, features a live recording of the band's performance at Park Avenue CDs this past fall, when they were passing through Orlando, FL. T
"Live at Park Ave." features 6 songs that The Gaslight Anthem rarely plays live ("Film Noir", "Miles Davis & the Cool", "Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts", "The Navesink Banks", "Here's Looking at You, Kid" and a cover of "Once Upon a Time", originally written by Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise).
| |

| we'll see...btw, why does it say "songs that The Gaslight Anthem rarely plays live"? Film Noir and OUaT definitely fall under that category, and maybe HLAY,K, but Blue Jeans is staple, and Miles and Navesink get played pretty regularly. agree/disagree? | |

| Seriously no idea why these are termed "rare" songs. The only ones I hadn't heard before were film and ouat. But they've played navesink every single time i've seen them. Wish they would've played red in the morning and red at night, those are songs that they really never play. It was still awesome. The sound was really good at the place so I hope that it sounds as good on record. And if I can get my hands on an extra copy of this I'll make sure to ship to you stalls. | |

| Record shops worldwide are involved in Record Store Day, so I hoped this release wasn't limited to States only? | |

| I don't know. I noticed that too, but in their "statement" it says "across the country". Could go either way I guess. Mail TGA or SideOneDummy and ask? | |

I hope this is right.... if you go on the recordstoreday.com website, theres a link to participating stores, first in the US and then a link to those internationally: http://www.recordstoreday.com/CustomPage/575 Hopefully some of these will stock the record? |

| Sent an email to Side One Dummy about UK availability, I'll let ya know if they get back to me! Bare in mind, it is still a long way off though so they might still be sorting out the worldwide release! | |

[url=http://www.parkavecds.com/mini/ http://www.parkavecds.com/mini/[/quote[/url]] the guys at Park Ave are really cool. I did my PO the other day and paid with Paypal but right after I hit enter I realized it had my old address as the shipping address. I called up Park Ave and they told me to send an email to them, I did and 5 minutes later I got an email saying everything was fixed! good guys.

| They're so good live they need to put out more live stuff. A live double album would be ideal at the end of this tour. | |

| I am usually not a fan of live albums (minus The Pietasters "Strapped Live"). I do wish they had recorded the concert in Wurzburg where I got to sing, I would by that in a heart beat! | |

| it depends for me. some live albums have been awesome and have been a great way to introduce me to a band, but others aren't worth it (Bouncing Souls). Gaslight is definitely the kinda band that i'd wanna hear a live album from, though | |

All I can say is that as a Springsteen I listen to his bootlegs 90% of the time and his studio albums only about 10%. But Bruce has a such an deep bootleg community. The guys that remaster raw boots are famous with in that community. Gaslight isn't quite there yet in that regard. So since I can't get the quality of bootleg I get from the Boss I can only hope Gaslight releases live stuff. Even if it's the Pearl Jam style of selling soundboard recordings of shows you attend.

| We need to start building some kind of a bootleg community. I don't think they'd care. I can ask Benny or Brian though | |

It's already started from what I've seen here. Something like what Springsteen, and more so The Grateful Dead, have takes a long time to build. And the best boots start to emerge when professional technicians start fiddling with raw recordings and make them sound great. In the Bruce world we have Crystal Cat, Prodigal Son, EV2, and Flynn, as the main guys. Who they actually are I don't know, and their end results often vary but they're best boots can be really good. I've heard that Crystal Cat are a team that have mastered ceratin venues the record at to get the best possible sound. They take from various parts of the venue ad then mix it together. Can't confirm it but it sure sounds cool. The other best boots come from radio broadcasts and from sound board recordings.

| I doubt in this day and age we can have the same success with the technicians. I don't know much about bootlegging but it'd be incredible if we could start churning out live Gaslight sets, maybe even 1 or 2 a week eventually.
Their live sets are so much better than their recorded stuff because they let each song take a life of its own. Look at "Angry Johnny." I love how they throw in another minute and a half in the middle that varies from set to set. I never listen to the Sink or Swim version anymore because the live version has so much more life to it.
This is why we need to start bootlegging. If anyone knows any info on it, post it here

| yeah great idea with bootlegging these guys.live they're even more epic than on cd. i think we should start a new thread, where people can say if they're interested in joining us or if they knew anything about mastering and mixing the recordings.cause there are already quite a few. the boston 2008 show for example, was an awesome show but i don't really enjoy watching it,in case the sound quality doesn't really fit me.so if anyone could master this,it would be ace.apart from theat, there are more complete recordings, for example *boston 2008 *mancheser 2008 *berlin 2008 *area 4 2008 *london 2009
are more guys interested in such a project?
