| "45"
Have you seen my hands? Just look at 'em shake. and the song just keeps on repeating, drop the needle again. and I dance with your ghost, oh, but that ain't the way… I can't move on and I can't stay the same.
and all my friends say…
"Hey hey, turn the record over. Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. There you go, turn the key and engine over. Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
Have you seen my heart, have you seen how it bleeds? And the nights are so long, baby, Out here in the deep. the tick, ticking of hours, lonely. I hear the alarm I used to hear when she would sleep in my arms.
But "better sense" says…
"Hey hey, turn the record over. Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. There you go, turn the key and engine over. Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
and all my friends say, "Hey hey, turn the record over. Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. There you go, turn the key and engine over. Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
Where you used to be…here with me.
EDIT: El Jefe's version was much cleaner and probably 100% accurate so I've changed it

| Interesting comment he made to Rolling Stone - Quote :
- "This song felt to us like we still had something to say in this long line of rock & roll tradition," says Fallon. "It made the path clear as to what we should do next. Sometimes you just have to leave things behind . . . turn the record over."

| I know this is nitpicking, but I feel like it should be "aaaay" instead of "ehhh." I don't know... "ehhh" sounds so bored. | |

I'll change it to that then, it's always tricky with that type of thing but I get what you mean.

| The line
I used to hear her when she was sleeping in my arms, but better senses.
Anyone else think that is a nod to HWM? Brian's favorite HWM song is Better Sense.

| I just love it. Anyone noticed how in the line 'turn the key and engine over' they actually switch the key of the song from C-minor to Eb-major by going from Cm Ab Eb Bb progression to Eb Bb Cm Ab? (Ok, I admit that this is just for the music.theory-freaks here, but still its awesome) | |

| I just have to see this song live. I think it's too over-produced... I miss the raw Brian. It feels like this 'make a hit"-web has caught the band. It just makes me long for the real Gaslight! And that's the reason I'm looking forward to the new album and the tour... Please give me some rawness! | |

Must be pretty cool to be able to appreciate music on that level!

| To my, it's about letting somebody go. And at the same time realizing that you have to move forward and change yourself. I think the vocals could have been a bit more raw, as someone also has remarked. I like the song and it has only raised my expectations for the record further.
What I'm having a hard time understanding though, is the title. What does "45" mean?

| What do people think of the line:
I hear the alarm I used to hear when she would sleep in my arms.
The alarm someone feels when they realise a relationship just isn't working any more? Something else?

| Yeah like maybe it's a wake up call?
As if she was sleeping in his arms, and the alarm sounded and they realized it was over and they woke up. Hmm, I don't think I even understand myself.

| I think the line 'let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet' is one of the hardest hitting Gaslight lines ever for me. Once again instantly relatable. Brian is a genius. | |
