I rarely ever rant, my timeline is just stupid statuses and songs To be fair, when I 'rant' it usually does bringing up a great discussion, I know how to grab peoples attention on there and it works. Granted, I do get accused of being negative and whatnot, but I think there's a difference between negative and calling BS on something and expressing that opinion. I really find it difficult to discuss anything serious on facebook, everyone just ends up saying lots of predictable things.. I am quite into politics and perhaps lots of idiots who have no way to express themselves in real life use facebook to do so and it bothers me to no end, I had so many fights with these people it's ridiculous.

| But in saying that in regards to the people that say I'm negative, it's the same batch of people that say I only ever post negative things, when 9 posts out of 10 on my FB wall will be me being excited over something or saying something dorky.
I think it says more for these people that they will only pick up on 'negative' posts and their evaluation that this is all I post about.
FB, arghhhh. | |

I'll be honest, I know next to nothing about politics, and I stay away from discussions on it. I'll read them...yes, it's good to see differing opinions, but I know it's better for me to soak up that information and if something interests me, read up on it. I do get what you mean though, some people can only express (or try to) themselves with a keyboard in front of them. I love a good face to face ramble more than words on a screen. So much more fluid and satisfying (*insert 'that's what she said' comment here *)

Aright, little brother, explain yourself. I get to see what people are up to, I can see pictures from travels they have been on, I can talk to people who aren't around, post rants, arrange events, all kinds of things. Nobody's stopping anybody from hanging out and talking in real life. If that actually happens to people then they are to blame, not Facebook.

If people choose to interact on FB rather than get together in person, that's their issue. I see your points about the other stuff, but it isn't enough to make me end my rebellion. I can do all those things without Facebook. I'm creative like that.

| I need chocolate. And maybe a drink...or a Valium. So, I picked the kids up and they were eating their snack on the way home and everything was fine. Then all of a sudden, the five year old said, "None of my friends are virgins, except for so-and-so, but nobody likes her." What?! I stammered for several awkward seconds and eventually managed to ask what she meant. She said that on the playground she was explaining that people had zodiac signs based on when they were born (she is a Virgo) and none of her friends were born around the same time as her, except for the "mean virgin" as "my kid" called her. OH. MY. GOSH. This is what happens when the older one becomes fixated on something and tells the younger one too many details. So I had to explain to her (again because this is not the first time we have had a discussion about signs ) that the word is Virgo, not virgin, and she doesn't need to talk about either word in school! I do not get paid enough. AT ALL. | |
