| They should have done that sooner. It was kind of obvious this would happen. | |

| I'm really hoping they decide to add another date.
I refreshed the page exactly at 12 and by the time I finished entering the captcha, they were gone. I spent my entire work day refreshing and trying to get tickets. My productivity was at an all time low.
I have not missed a single show in Philly/NJ/NYC that they've headlined... I feel like a part of me is missing!

| The most effective way to minimize scalping is with a two ticket limit, will call delivery only. The buyer has to show photo id and the credit card used to pay for the tickets. Bruce did this for his holiday shows in convention hall. Notice how none of the Tuesday presale tickets wound up on stub hub or eBay.
But, a band can virtually eliminate scalping by increasing the supply of tickets, either with larger venues or more shows.

| I wouldn't be as mad about being shut out if I were fairly shut out. I mean it still sucks, but at least it would be fair. There will be more shows, this was just the first for now, so there's more excitement (and disappointment) around it. | |

| With 70 sold during the presale - and Assuming with the band and the label another 100. Ticketmaster probably had less than 400 tickets for sale - sucks that nearly 50 of them are on the secondary site. -
Buuuuuut - on that note - I might possibly have an extra ticket. But I will not except cash -
ONLY Records - if u have Iron Chic / Defeater /American Nightmare records - lemme know : )
Also on another side note - Green/Black SOS demo's I have a few Lets Trade !! : )

| There is so much crap that goes on behind the scenes that dictate why things the way they are with ticket sales, and it's safe to say that it's all money-related.
One thing I think we can probably assume is that the four members of Gaslight had no intention of screwing anyone, especially their fans. Bandmembers have a lot less say in certain matters than it might seem.

| Oh totally, it's not their fault. If anything they should be happy their such a demand for their shows. | |

| Plus don't forget it's the venue that typically chooses the ticket broker. Bowery Presents (which runs The Music Hall of Williamsburg) almost always uses Ticketmaster. | |

| Fyi i was browsing eBay and there is a pair of tickets to the 5/16 showat 36 bucks right now, Or buy it now for 150. I know it's absurd but 75 bucks a pop is way cheaper than I saw on stubhub
THIS IS NOT MY EBAY LISTING (I was searching TGA vinyl and just happened to see it)

| If we are looking at the same ebay posting, that person is only selling one ticket, not a pair. | |

What is stub hub? It's like the drunk friend who throws up on your carpet. Greedy! I hope you never sell those tickets. #losers!

I hope you never sell those tickets. #losers! yup yup. they're aware. they're decent guys! it doesn't mean they can devote all their time to preventing scalpers, as much as they (the scalpers) suck! being a band and controlling the tickets for your show are different things, as long as they focus on making good music, that's the most important thing. and, as evidenced by Benny's chat here earlier today, they do give a fuck about their fans. so.

| I am of the belief bands are forced/blackmailed into doing things half the time, such as having to use Ticketmaster as their ticket service for a show.
Awhile back Dave Grohl was on Howard Stern and he was saying how bands can be basically blackmailed into things. For example, if they don't want to play a radio festival because say, a band member's wife is about to have a baby or it's a pain to schedule it in, radio stations have said "OK well if you don't play, we're not going to play your records anymore." Of course Dave being Dave, he said he started taking a stand and said if he did come and play, he would tell the crowd how the station threatened them, and that the listeners should boycott the station altogether! haha

| I think people tend to overreact when they say "__ corporation is evil." But ticketmaster really is one of the worst companies I've ever encountered. | |

| Back in the day (perhaps Irish will remember as this was a LONG time ago!) there were more options to buy tickets. I seem to remember there being more than one for one show- Ticketron being one. Also the fees weren't always this bad, etc. And, when you dealt with scalpers, you'd talk to a person on the other line so there was some humanity to it all. My favorite thing in life is when a band I love plays a venue that uses anything but stupid Ticketmaster. It was nice to see Gaslight actually have a public reaction to this MHOW debacle/Stub Hub.
Stub Hub isn't evil all the time- I've sold tickets at face value on there before just because I wanted at least some of my money back when I couldn't go to a show. Can't say the same for the scalpers obviously!

| Way back before al gore invented the internet, you used to actually have to stand in line to get tickets. There was a place in new Brunswick called cheap thrills records on the corner of church st and George st that was probably the biggest place to get tickets in the eighties and nineties. People would sleep out, sometimes for days, to get tickets to big shows. Calling on the phone was the only other option, but that was impossible, unless you called out of state. | |

| I remember going to a ticket place at the Willowbrook Mall when I was a kid. That and Scotti's Records in Morristown. For a big show, as ericlange said, you sometimes had to wait for hours and hope there were still tickets left when you got to the front of the line.

| I went to a record store once to try to get tickets for Madonna in 1985 when the Beastie Boys opened. My Mom had to explain to me the concept of something selling out before I got to buy tickets. I was a sad little girl. After that it was a life of "redialing" until I could get a ticket. | |

| Don't get me wrong, scalpers sucked just as much back then. Often times it was the ticket retailer that would print out tickets for themselves as soon as the tickets went on sale, with people standing outside in line watching it happen. | |

Stub Hub isn't evil all the time- I've sold tickets at face value on there before just because I wanted at least some of my money back when I couldn't go to a show. Can't say the same for the scalpers obviously! Yeah, I do remember when Tickmaster wasn't the be all and end all for buying tickets. And you're right, the fees were WAY less in the past. I guess Ticketmaster figures that if they are the only option for tickets to a certain event, it doesn't matter how much the fees are, people will pay them. My best experience buying concert tickets was standing outside a small venue in Norfolk, VA (approx. 1500 people) for a few hours to get tickets to see Bob Dylan. I talked to some cool people and even got interviewed for a grad student's thesis which was neat. And there were no fees. Take that Ticketmaster! And I'm still living in the 90s, because to me, scalpers are supposed to be standing outside of the venue pawning their tickets, not buying all the tickets the second they go on sale and jacking up the prices online weeks before the concert. Yeah, I'm old like that!
