I've just finished reading Island by Aldous Huxley, and near the end of The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck - will hopefully finish that one later tonight or tomorrow. I guess you don't get snow in Arizona often, if ever?

I guess you don't get snow in Arizona often, if ever? would you recommend those books? well, not the part where i'm from. when i think of Arizona, i mostly think of the Valley area, which is metro Phoenix and all the suburbs...northern Arizona has lots of pine trees and gets lots of snow in the winter. we used to go up there to play in the snow. once or twice, when i was really young, it just barely snowed here, very briefly.

Island is absolutely incredible if you're into philosophical/spiritual analysis of humans and utopian civilisations . It's probably one of the best books I've ever come across, so it is definitely worth a read. The Winter of Our Discontent isn't quite as deep - it sort of examines the influence of money and greed in a typical American town post-WW2 - but is still an interesting read. When I think of Arizona I mostly think of a hot, arid climate so don't imagine much snow at all. How hot does it get in summer?

How hot does it get in summer? nice. i'll keep those in mind whenever in finally finish any of the four books or so that i am halfway through, hah. last summer it got to 117 degrees here. and that's fahrenheit. it was miserable, i was outside walking dogs all day, and i honestly think my meds turned up my internal temperature, it felt way hotter than 117. absolutely miserable. every summer, i say there's no way i will make it through another summer!
