| Hello my sailors!
So, the new album is nearly being recorded as we speak.
I'm wondering, what are your OWN expectations about the new album?
Personally, I expect alot of rythm, but with that rough, unshaped old sound of senor and the queen. In lyrics I expect some awesome references, as always.
What are yours? | |

| I have none, because I know for a fact that they will have monetary arguments and split up into The Horrible G's and other endeavors. | |

| Ahh, well i think more energy , a rawer guitar sound , Brian's vocals will be produced in such a way that they will sound rough but more clear than normal, guitar licks will be quite bluesy , lyrics will not contain much nostalgia but will be full of references and contain more direct and social stuff. Overall sound will be punchy e.g The Fixer by Pearl Jam. | |

| I'm trying not to have any expectations. I just hope it's as good as their past few albums, and I'll be happy! |

NO! BAD HARBORTOWN, BAD HARBORTOWN! I pretty much agree with Holland. I think the nostalgic references will be few and far between if they are there at all, and I definitely think there will be a lot of energy in this record. They will still be the Gaslight that we know and love, just a little more polished and grown up than they used to be. As long as they stay true to their music and just continue to get better like they have been with each record (my opinion, I know some of you love Sink or Swim the most), it's going to be phenomenal.

| In all seriousness I don't care what they actually sound like as long as they get a good production.
American Slang sounded way too flat, which is a shame because the songs are so, so good.

| I reckon it's gonna be a lot more "rock" sounding than any previous effort, think, their cover of State of Love and Trust. I also think there will be 2-3 acoustic, gentle, Tom Waitsesque sounding songs that would have never been allowed to slip through on any of the previous records, had it not been for the release of Elsie. | |

That actually sounds pretty fantastic! I would be happy with that album.

| I'm expecting a kind of soul, blues, mid 70s Stonesy (but much better than that implies) feel, even a little country, as GA explore all the branches and roots of American music.
Either that or a radical move into 80s electropop ditties.

Very cool! Where is that church? Is the 70s in your username because you grew up in the 70s or because you love the music from that decade? Or something else?

A radical move into 80s electropoop? hmm. explain! First of all, electroPOOP, Matt? That made me laugh so ridiculously hard! Seriously though, I would cry if they turned into an 80s electropop band. That would be the day the music died. I don't think that will ever happen in a million years though!

Is the 70s in your username because you grew up in the 70s or because you love the music from that decade? Or something else? The church is in Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. I was born in the 70s but grew up in the 80s - first single ever bought was John Lennon's Imagine in 1980 which was reissued when he was shot in NYC. I was actually born in Nebraska and have travelled the US and Canada a few times - favourites places NYC, Arizona and Hawaii. At the moment I'm back in England and back in love with my guitar so trying to get a band together with a few mates to play some gigs at a bar where they promote other nights.

| Okay, got it. I was born in '82 but grew up on music from the 60s/70s. That's what initially got me hooked on Gaslight, they sounded like my favorite era of Rock & Roll but are still current! Good luck with your band, Steve! | |

| A good band once said: It aint where you're from, it's where you're at!
We always think the grass is greener mate!
