| 1. The '59 Sound. 2. American Slang. 3. Sink Or Swim. 4. SATQ (would probably put it higher up if it had more tracks).
I really love all their music though.

| This is difficult. We've not had American Slang for too long so it's hard to really judge it against the others, and I've had far too many good times soundtracked by the other 3 releases to place AS above them at the moment, so for today my list is: 1. The '59 Sound 2. Sink or Swim 3. Senor 4. American Slang
It might change in time, but that's today.

| as of right now:
1. Sink or Swim (it is tied with Rancid's Ruby Soho for favorite album ever) 2. American Slang 3. The 59 Sound 4. Senor and The Queen (it only has 4 songs, and while 1 might be my 2nd favorite TGA song, it also has the only song that I consistently skip)

| It's like choosing which of your children you like more...
I love them all for all of their different sounds, themes, lyrics, etc...
Currently I love AS because the vocals really resonate with me and love the soulful vibe as well....
SOS is raw and fun to listen to
T59S is very polished and well produced
S&Q is sweet because it's short and has a ton of emotion in it

| my issue with SatQ is that it is awesome, but it is difficult to compare because of its length SoS had a huge redundancy to it so while i love some songs, others run together 59S and AS are incredible however | |

| 1(a) American Slang - Hard to find a flaw in this album. Over too quick is about all I can think of. When the title track/lead single is the worst song, you know it is something good. 10/10 1(b) Sink or Swim - Almost perfect. I just think AS might be a little better. 9.5/10 2 The '59 Sound - Never absolutely crazy about this album. It's solid, I enjoy it while listening to it and it has some of my fave songs (Film Noir, Backseat, Casanova Baby). It just seemed a little too by the numbers after the greatness of SOS. 8.5/10 3 Senor and the Queen - The first 7" really doesn't do it for me. Two of GA's weaker tracks (though it seems most would disagree by looking at their rankings). The second disc is GA at thier best. 7.5/10 | |

| I love all the albums for different reasons, but if I had to rank them, it goes a little something like this 1. The '59 Sound 2. Senor And The Queen 3. American Slang 4. Sink Or Swim but it does switch from time to time | |

| My ratings have pretty much flip flopped since I post in here before:
AS>SoS>59S
I think SaTQ is great (has their best song on it) but I'm gonna hold it out of the rankings since it's an EP and hard to compare.

| 1. AS 2. 59 Sound 3. SOS
Senor and Queen doesn't count..... What if you put Bring It On, Diamond Church Street, Boxer and American Slang on one EP? That's not a full album and it'd blow anything else out of the water

And I couldn't live without Blue Jeans and White Tshirts.

| The point I'm trying to make is that it isn't fair to compare 4 songs to an entire album. There isn't the breadth of material in order to really justify comparing the two.
What if they wrote 10 songs and only kept the best 4? Well, they coulda done that with AS and only kept the ones I mentioned.....
I don't think it's fair to throw an EP in with an album when ranking....
If there was another EP, then by all means compare it to S&Q, but without a legitimate comparable equivalent I don't think the comparison is valid.

| One way to compare S&Q to the other albums is to take the top 4 songs on each CD, and compare them to the 4 on the S&Q, and then determine which one is better.
For example, my opin of the top 4 on T59S = Old white Lincoln, Great Expectations, 59 Sound and Backseats. Now compare them to S&Q...And for me it's a tough call--which 4 songs would you rather listen to??? I would probably lean, and I mean lean a bit to S&Q.
For SOS, I'll go with 1930, Contender, Drive and Angry Johnny. Comparing to S&Q, I think I lean to SOS.
It's almost a tougher call to actually pick the best 4 songs on each cd...
Anyone else? | |
