| I'm not sure.
In my opinion it only has a few good songs but those good songs are REALLY REALLY good, but that's how I perceive all SD albums anyway.

Please do so. I was there and I always like to read reviews of shows that I attended, to see if they picked up on anything I may have missed. And I agree with your sentiments, I thought all three acts were excellent. This show was also a bit "star-studded", as I ran into Alex L of Gaslight, and also saw Pete and Bryan of the Bouncing Souls, and Matt Pinfield at one point or another.

| That photo must've been taken somewhere else, but not Hamburg. The venue looks different. I've been to their Sunday show, and boy, was that brilliant. The evening was started by Frank & his friends, and, well, what can I say except that they were awesome as always. They presented a slightly different - heavier, that is - take on the songs, which suited 'em fantastically, with One Foot Before The Other definitely being a stand-out. Staggeringly well played and goosebumps-inducing. Social Distortion took their time (a bit too long, in my opinion) but made up for that with a truly great set: Starting with Road Zombie & Bad Luck, the thundered through songs of every age, including a furious take on 1945 (with way more punch than the original from 30 years ago - anyone who claims that Mike's getting old and tired is a liar, honestly) and a half-acoustic version of Down Here With The Rest Of Us with Frank sharing Vocals with Mike. Once again I was really happy that Jonny's in that band, for he is such a fantastic guitar player who delivers stellar solos while managing to look even cooler than Ness himself. If you are able to catch the boys on their current tour, for god's sake, do so. It's absolutely worth it. | |
