Love Ire Songs is a perfect album if you don't enjoy it, then there is something something wrong with you |

First off, I love Frank Turner, but I can somewhat relate to what your saying. It took me several attempts over a 2-3 year period of trying to get into Frank's music. I've been a huge fan of Chuck Ragan and Tim Barry for years, but for some reason Frank just didn't appeal to me right away like Chuck and Tim did. I'd usually end up only liking a couple of songs off of his releases and as a result, I'd never purchase his albums. What I did do though (and looking back is probably what helped me develop interest into his music) is make a compilation cd, selecting 10 songs that I liked most from all of his albums (ep's and splits included), sort of like my own version of FT's greatest hits. I'd listen to it every now and then and began liking it more and more with each listen, but what really turned me into a fan was his 2010 "Rock and Roll" EP and less than a year later with the release of his new full length, I'd say that turned me into what I would consider a "hardcore fan". I went back and purchased the majority of his albums and enjoy them so much more than years ago when I was trying to get into them. I don't know why it took me so long to like his music, but now I love it, so if I were you I'd give him a few more chances............I'm sure glad I did!

| So I got to meet Frank and interview him this week which was a big thrill. I asked him about Brian and Chuck! Here's links if you want to read. If you don't want to read, then ignore this Review of the first night of his current tour: http://exm.nr/qrjn5g Interview, part 1 http://exm.nr/qY4Bn9 Interview, part 2 http://exm.nr/oa2jVI part 2 The show was awesome as usual. Interesting place to start a tour as it's a small town and a venue that I've only been to because local friends were playing. I wasn't sure how many people would really know him there but there was a very good turnout. Also, I didn't really get into detail about them in my article, but Andrew Jackson Jihad was also very well received. People knew words to all their stuff and everything whereas I actually don't know them at all. Into It. Over It. was cool as well. | |
