Against Me!

Looks good.

I love against me though fucking awesome. Seen them 3 times now. I have to confess though because I really didnt like the new album at first the first time I saw them was a bit pants because they played a very very New wave heavy set. Second time was their own headline show and not a festival so the set list was awesome I got a photopass that night as well because I was working up in London at that point. My fave photo from the night if you look at the high res version you can see the sweat and the veins in his neck where he is giving it so much:



Then I saw them when I was in Australia in Adeleide and that was the best I have seen them a tiny venue by their standards. Was right at the front screaming a long with the band (no barrier) and Andrew even ruffled my head at one point! One mighty gig I will never forget.

New wave has really grown on me as well. Against me! are a truely amazing live band and Tom is such a great front man. No pretentious he just gives it his all every time.

There is my gushing love of Against me! for all to see.

Do you still have the pictures from London show?

It was the electric ballroom date last november only a few are properly edited but now I seem to have a fair bit of time I will get on it.

I thought that show was pretty good. Not a touch on Underworld though

They where so good in Adelaide it was a similar sized venue to the Underworld maybe a wee bit bigger.

The Underworld show was where I managed to steal Andrews microphone

tbh, i think 100 years of war is a bit weak musically and lyrically. i mean, i get what the message of the chorus is, but i think it's articulated poorly. and the verses and chorus seem too similar. i think these songs could have been better as full band songs, honestly

Well in all fairness, Tom is standing outside by himself singing the song live. I've heard the studio versions of this song and a couple others on the EP and I think it sounds really amazing, there are also some gang vocals on "100 Years of War" which I think add a lot. The entire EP isn't only Tom by himself, there are some drums and stuff. My personal favorite song is "Anna is A Stool Pigeon." Chuck Ragan singing and playing harmonica on that song just sounds like gold.

Yeah, I'm definitely keeping an open mind about the ep and will definitely check it out

I really like the "2004 Demo" the acoustic demo is very good too.

New Wave is mostly boring but a few real good ones.

Anyone know where to get Against Me vinyls for decently cheap? They don't have to be special or rare or anything.

I'm sure not every vinyl is OOP. Just get them when the new presses go up, what are you looking for?

I just found something interesting: Tom was listing his 5 favorite Springsteen songs for Spinner.com. He had this to say about "Brilliant Disguise":

Against Me! was involved in a bus crash while traveling between dates in Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah last night.

The band is currently touring with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Future
of the Left. Leo reported in via his website that the members of
Against Me! are uninjured but likely delayed, stating:

Hey
peeps - according to Against Me, everyone is o.k., but they're not
going to be able to make it to the show tonight. Word that I've gotten
so far, is that that means the promoter is canceling the whole thing.
I'm still actually lying in bed responding to text messages, so I don't
have a ton of info, and my brain is moving a little slowly, but I think
our plan right now is to go to SLC anyway and see what's up. I will try
to update this later in the day, but as it's a 7.5 hour drive from
Denver, I might not get a chance. I would suggest checking the venue's
website, or calling them:(801) 359-3219, for updates...
Tonight's show in Salt Lake City has been canceled. There is no word yet on if further tour dates will be postponed.

I almost had a heart attack when I read that. So happy that they are okay.

Damn - glad they are OK and hope they are doing well. Tom's new material is pretty killer.

Glad they are okay.

Not a fan of Toms solo stuff. But I really want to see against me again. Best time I saw them was in a tiny (in comparison to the venues I have seen the play in the uk) venue in Adelaide Australia. Was fucking awesome no barrier right at the front screaming a long. I miss seeing against me

idk purevolume's pretty good at preventing ripping. i'll see what i can do

the acoustics are better than the album versions btw
