Part of the fanclub package, some people decided to buy/subscribe to, was to get an exclusive 7inch. I don't even know if it was ever planned to have a digital download if it wasn't for the production delay. Personally I think it was a great way to handle that issue and there is no reason to start a discussion over it.
It is the band's or the label's decision in which way they put out their recordings/releases and we should accept that. And as it was already mentioned, I am sure if you want to get hold of the mp3s you will find a way - even though I don't support that but believe in actually paying for music and supporting the artists. But this topic has been discussed in endless circles already anyway.
So can we please quit complaining about whatever there is to even complain about and go back to enjoying and discussing the music, OK? Thank you. ALL HAIL BRIAN FALLON NO DISAGREEING WITH ANYTHING HE DOES GASLIGHT IS INFALLIBLE THIS IS THE ADMIN DECREE I disagree with your other points but I agree with this. Can't say anything negative about the band on here without someone saying "Can't we just move on and be positive" or you have to follow a negative statement with a bunch of positives to balance it out. If everything is roses all the time then the discussion isn't based in reality. I'm really tired of these discussions. It was not about critising. I merely pointed out that it is their decision how to deal with the fanclub and that includes the release of the single.

The response was in regards to the last line, not the paragraph above it. Sometimes dudes on a message board are going to argue, and it is gonna blow up into 5 pages of back and forth. There's nothing wrong with that. It means it is a topic worth discussing. Usually I would say "If you aren't enjoying the discussion then leave. No one is forcing you to read what I write" but I guess as an admin, you have a little bit of responsibility to track what is being written on here. So that doesn't really apply. But it seems to have died naturally (for now...).

| Really dont get people kicking off over something that was going to be exclusive to the fan club which has been stated for months. Im undecided on Halloween, that wailing guitar part at the end makes me cringe i must say. Other track sounds beautiful | |

No one's disputing that the 7" was to and should be an exclusive, we're merely discussing the actual recordings. They're two separate things. |

| I love Halloween! Kinda reminds me of the Señor And the Queen sound, even though the lyrics are much darker. | |

| The downloads are good but they are always late shipping things, took over two months for t-shirt and stuff. I aint complaining I doubt they're making money on the club. In fact Brian said something to the effect that is costs them $. Anyway, anything that makes getting tix easier I'm for. | |

| Finally listened to the studio version of Halloween. I mean, I like it, but it just feels like a lazy recording job. Slap the live vocals onto supbar quality instrumentals and a boring b-side. I'm pumped to get the 7" but it feels like this was slapped together JUST to fulfill the promise of a club 7". | |

It sounds 100% identical but I recently remembered that awhile ago their guitar tech posted a pic on instagram of them live recording the song. It was in one of the venues they played during the fall while the place was empty. I don't know if they did that, thought it sounded lousy, and then went with the terminal 5 recording or if Brian some how perfectly replicated himself. I'm so confused.

No one's disputing that the 7" was to and should be an exclusive, we're merely discussing the actual recordings. They're two separate things. no they were always intended for the 45 club the 7" and recordings. thats essentially one thing. Had great hopes for Halloween but agree it's just rushed. Acoustic version was much better on its own. Cant wait for it to actually arrive though

no they were always intended for the 45 club the 7" and recordings. thats essentially one thing. that's 100% true. I wish I could find the link to an interview Alex R. and Brian did in the fall where they mentioned the digital download. The interviewer asked about the song and Brian said something to the effect of, there will be a 7" and a digital file too. It's just for the fanclub, they might release it to everyone somewhere down the line but for now, fan club only. He said the last part in a way that implied they're not planning a full release but he doesn't want to say it wont ever happen because it might down the road. On another note. To be fair, if we didn't all know the recording sounds exactly the same as the live version, would people still be as disappointed with the final product that is Halloween? (I mean production wise) Or are we just getting it in our heads that it could have been better because we know they didn't spend a week in a studio working on it? Just a thought.

| I remember that interview thanx! Thats a main reason I joined, didnt want to be left out of that! Yeah could be a mental thing too knowing it doesnt sound like it was recorded properly. Im not a fan of the girl vocals on it too. Im happy enough with it and willlove it most likely when I have it in my hand and its spinning on my player | |
