| Booked tickets this morning for the Friday Troxy gig in London. That'll be my 3rd Gaslight gig in the space of 12 months! Even if I had to fly over for each one I still feel spoiled. | |

It is pretty rare to pay that much for a band at Manchester Academy. Ticket face value last time they played there was £13.50.

| Haha, okay. Well it's pretty standard for a ticket to any proper venue here in Dublin. And I paid €90 for 2 tickets to Lana Del Rey there recently. | |

I don't think £25 to see Gaslight is bad but Holland's right - that's expensive for Academy. Although I'd probably rather see them there than the Apollo. In terms of support acts I'd personally rather see Dave Hause/Chuck Ragan types than Blood Red Shoes (who the label are no doubt pushing). Saw Tim Barry supporting Frank Turner earlier this week - he was great too. |

| I thought the tickets were very fairly priced, considering Handwritten was top selling album in the rock category for the fortnight after it's release. Also a number of songs have featured on Radio 1, so they could easily added another £5-10 due to the exposure.
Agree though, would love to see Tim Barry or Dave Hause with Gaslight. Chunk Ragan and Sharks supported them when I saw them on the American Slang tour and it was great. And perhaps maybe a surprise addition of Eddie Vedder or Mike Ness (if only).

Thoughts? £24 per ticket including booking fee, delivery, etc. is far from "hefty", for one. Brixton last month cost more.

Really I was just trying to invite a discussion on who the support act could be and see if anyone has any ideas. Thinking that a higher ticket price may mean better support act.

Really I was just trying to invite a discussion on who the support act could be and see if anyone has any ideas. Thinking that a higher ticket price may mean better support act. Fair enough. I doubt it. I think it's more likely to represent an increase in the status of the band. Taking the Leeds O2 as an example, the tickets are £5 more than the last time they played there, which was shortly after American Slang was released. That received good press and did OK in the charts, then of course there's been Handwritten which similarly positive reviews and hit the top 3 in both the UK and US. Like it or not, the band's profile is increasing, which will in some cases mean bigger venues, sometimes means tickets are harder to get hold of, but almost universally will mean that ticket prices will go up. If the band continue to become more popular, i think they will eventually have better and better support bands, as the competition to support them will intensify. But i don't think an increase in ticket price is an indicator of the quality of support alone.

| Certainly the London prices we could expect to be higher this time. The band are playing 2 nights in a venue half the size of Brixton, it's doubtful whether the bands fee for playing the show is smaller because it's a smaller room, meaning the prices need to go up a little. I'm all for a slightly higher price, if it means staying in the smaller venues. They could easily have gone for Hammersmiith, Manchester Apollo and a similar sized hall in Glasgow. As it is we're getting 2 night stands in smaller venues. We must make the most of this while we can! | |

| A new date: March 31st at Paaspop Festival in The Netherlands. The date isn't confirmed, the appearance at the festival is. And since they're playing other shows on the other days of the festival March 31st is the only one possibility left. www.paaspop.nl
They'll also play Greenfields Festival in Switzerland (13-15 june) www.greenfieldfestival.ch/intro/index.php
