i still think even if you don't support the Invisible Children organization or this new movement, spreading the word is a good thing and people should know about what's going on.

here's my view a day later now that i'm slightly less fired up-


yesterday i did not know who this man was. i had heard of the LRA but never paid much attention to it, and i was (and still am) equally unaware or apathetic to numerous crises around the globe. it is a little strange that because someone puts together a really good video, everybody now cares about this problem and this man. but they do. and that's a good thing. it will inevitably become the "cool" thing to support. for some, it will serve mainly to boost egos and display personality traits that they want to display to the world. but people care, and that's a good thing.

i will not say that Joseph Kony is the world's worst war criminal. i honestly don't know if that is true. it may well be. i do know that he is an internationally recognized war criminal responsible for horrific crimes. i believe that he should be captured. how? i don't know. the Ugandan Army is not squeaky clean. they have done bad things as well. should world powers support them nonetheless? a discussion should be sparked to answer this that gets more intelligent and sophisticated as it goes on. this discussion should be among both the senators and the plebs. we should, all together, find the truth and decide on a course of action best for the children affected by the LRA.


i want to see this criminal captured, but the focus should always be on the children.

i am fascinated by the spreading of the Kony 2012 message, but the focus should be on the message, not the self-gratification of those spreading it.

Russell is one of the the founders responsible for the "KONY 2012" video that went viral last week. He is described on the organization's website as a co-founder and "our grand storyteller and dreamer." Russell is also described as a Christian and father to two children who wants to have nine more children with his wife he calls his "best friend for over 23 years."

The video of alleged child atrocities by Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony has been viewed more than 100 million times on the Internet.
