| I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness could be a similar band, it's hard to find someone who sings like brian, but in this case I found that the dark sound and the "atmosphere" makes this band similar to the crowes.

| The Horrible Crowes are in a league of their own, totally original, which is one reason why I think they are soooo good. If I had to pick someone similar though, I would second U2 and Tom Waits, and maybe a little Dylan in the lyrics (especially lines like "While I get my last rites read by a thief"), but those are very loose comparisons. | |

| Elsie sounds very much like the last three Afghan Whigs albums (Gentlemen, Black Love, 1965). It opens with the same wind and tambourine thing as Gentlemen does, Ladykiller reminds me of Cito Soleil, etc.
The lyrics are not very similar to Greg Dulli (of the Afghan Whigs and the Twilight Singers.) Those have more of the mood of early Tom Waits (the Asylum years, Closing Time-Heartattack and Vine) and Mark Lanegan (Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, Field Songs, Bubblegum). | |

| Sayin' that Horrible Crows are 'totally original' is misunderstanding.
Actually comparisions to Afghan Wigs/The Twilight Singers are pretty close to sound of "Elsie". Plus all B3 lines stolen from Tom Waits songs ("Cherry Blossoms") and some The National wibe in "Sugar".
It's great record but... it's all about inspirations and music quotes from other artists. | |

| I just realized that one of my favorite songs sounds kinda like a heavier, slower The Horrible Crowes.
It leans sort of towards metal at the end of the song and I'm not sure if you guys are into that, but give the song a shot.
