| and take it back out to the streets, where you know you used to be for the romeos of town, if i bring you down, and youre tired of those vows, if youre really walking out,
then give me the fever that just wont break and give me the children you dont wanna raise, and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs, if its better than my love, baby bring it on, oh bring it on, stop clicking your red heels and wishing for home, im hearing that he tells you he can read your poems, if its better than my love, then bring it on |

As for how this 'guest' got these lyrics, someone must be working on the CD booklet by now, typesetting the lyrics etc.; I doubt they are as closely guarded as the tracks themselves (though as someone does have a live boot, it could have been transcribed from that). Incidentally, I wonder if the first proper single will actually be 'Bring It On', as an 'American Slang' single release may not have the impact that they would want, now that it's been streaming for some time; and as Brian has already said that the best is yet to come, if they are going to be back on the Late Show, wouldn't you want to play the best you've got?

| I was at the show at the Wellmont Theater. From what I remember, those lyrics are accurate. That song sounded amazing live, can't wait to properly hear it! | |

| I'm wondering if Brian, Ian or someone from the band posted them. The bank knows about this site, maybe they gave us an early present and hoped the lyrics would spread virally. | |

| These lyrics were posted before by someone after the Wellmont show in December. I'd imagine they're also legit.
my queen of the bronx, blue eyes and spitfire, i saw you walking back and forth, about another boy, thinking you may wanna leave,
so give me the fever that just wont break, and give me the children you dont wanna raise, and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs, if its better than my love, then bring it on

| So the chorus is at least legit. Maybe they changed the first verse? Or maybe one is just flat out wrong? | |

| Or ones the first verse, then chorus, the other is the 2nd verse, followed by the chorus again.
Or vice versa. That or someone has got it badly wrong.

| The lyrics read like someone trying too hard to write a Gaslight Anthem song. Not saying they're not true, the same thing could be said about the lyrics to American Slang... like a band 4/5 as good as TGA trying to make a TGA song (as weird as it is to say). |

| Well if someone can fake those lyrics, they should be starting their own band.
But really, most lyrics don't read all that great on paper.

| I was at Wellmont, and can vouch for the "Queen of the Bronx, blue eyes and spitfire" line being the first verse. That line just stuck with me. The "fever that just won't break" and the thing about children are right, too, and although I obviously didn't remember more than a few lines, I'd guess based on the ones I recognize as right that the rest are right too.
Also, on a random side note, who else seems to be thinking that with Brian not using names in songs seems to mean that instead of calling women Mary he's calling them "the queen" of something or other?

| Haha, maybe Brian did a massive find-and-replace for all the song lyrics he'd typed up. | |

| I was at the Wellmont show (if you want proof, I did the setlist on setlist.fm). I can vouch for the chorus being accurate and the Queen of the Bronx, blue eyes and spitfire thing. As far as the verse lyrics that the Guest posted, I really can't say for sure. I was paying close attention, but it's tough to remember individual verse lyrics after only hearing it once in a concert environment.
The chorus is definitely right, though.

Ain't that the truth man. The most depressing part in someone has it but won't release it...

The most depressing part in someone has it but won't release it... Apparently because the boys really asked not to upload/spread it, so I suppose it's the right thing however sad it makes us!
