drum kit (starter) advice please

one of the boys (11) would like a drum kit for Christmas; the budget is minimal, so I have found these two, but they are configured differently (onw has two toms on top of the bass drum, the other just one [which seems to be Benny's set up])

any advice from drummers on here?

first of all i would use musiciansfriend.com (if they ship overseas) because they have great prices and selections and also great payment options you can set up

that was my first kit and it held up wonderful and never gave me any problems

any sound percussion kits will work great for starters

the one shown below (full size, bass drum is 22" x 16"); in fact, its arriving tomorrow, but won't be unpacked until Christmas; and it was acquired on the condition that I get to play it as well
