I've been four times...including twice before the Wall came down in 1988 and 89. The subway system at that time was really weird because some of the western lines used to go into the eastern sector...the trains used to stop at the eastern 'ghost' stations for about 30 seconds...it was really strange because all the eastern stations had been blocked off in 1961 and they'd still got all the original adverts and posters from the time

Yes...that's right...U2 spent a lot of time in Berlin during the Achtung Baby sessions and Bowie / Iggy lived there for a period in the 70's.

has the station been cleaned up since Christiana F, I know she went on to be a bit of a cult figure after the film, but that film made the goings on in the subways and station look scary...great film lo.

I've never seen the film, but it's supposed to be a classic...it's got to be about thirty years old now...never had any problems in the subways or any part of Berlin.
Flights from Birmingham are about £78 with Lufthansa at the moment...which is pretty reasonable

the film is well worth seeing, if you can handle sub-titles the German version is way better, the English version the dubbing is dreadfull but i guess the easier way to watch the film. The film should have been shown to all teenagers, we wouldnt have such a drug problem if they did, it would scare the pants off of them.

Aaah man, i don't know where I'll be living at that time yet But I don't think the German dates will sell out quickly, they've booked some larger venues than I expected.
