Gaslight Anthem honors Clarence Clemons at Glastonbury

US rockers The Gaslight Anthem brushed away the cobwebs of the night before as the Glastonbury crowd found their voices again.


Gravelly-larynxed frontman Brian Fallon flaunted heavily tattooed arms as he led his band through a rip-roaring afternoon set.

The '59 Sound and Great Expectations were the stand-out moments.

Brian - who performed with Bruce Springsteen at his Glasto headline gig in 2009 - paid an emotional tribute to the Boss's saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died earlier this month after suffering a stroke.

They did, my sister was there this afternoon and
text me to say that they walked onto the stage to the sax solo from
Jungleland and Brian Fallon dedicated '59 Sound to CC.

I caught the highlights earlier and he does exactly that...and shouted out "Big Man" part way through the song...was awesome!!

He also spoke about Clarence before The '59
Sound. He said he was very nervous before going on stage with Bruce at
Glastonbury 2 years ago, and when he went on stage the first person he
saw was Clarence giving him a big smile, and telling him he'd be OK.
The BBC screened the whole set this afternoon.

Aint supposed to die on a Saturday night.

They showed it again today on the red button and nearly everyone else has a link on the Glasto page , maybe one will appear . A fitting tribute to Clarence though and a great performance by Brian, love the U2 bit.
