listen to Lucero's "Tennessee" in the middle of the night... it' pretty great. that's what i think of every time someone says "night time music"

| That's 'cause it's one of the best songs of all time.
"Dire straits - best band nobody talks about." -Brian Fallon
But, let's stick to discussing the album. (THat's more of a reminder for me than anyone else.)

He's right, I was just really making an effort to organize random bits of info from blog posts and interviews with the things Brian told me in October. People are talking a lot about individual projects and everyone seemed confused (IE the rumored solo album, which was a combination of the planned rerecording of old songs and suspicions about what the 7" would be, before we knew it was she loves you and that stones cover), so I did my best to make a brief and specific guide to TGA's current 2011-2012 schedule.

| frankly, its gaslight anthem, they can say they are doing a west coast rap record and i would probably end up loving it i love that they try to go in different directions but it ends up just being high quality, emotional music that i can listen to in the car, or on a plane, or when doing work i'm excited for this, itll still be gaslight | |

| for good measure, I have now added a 2012 New Album Chronicle to my TGA website, which I will keep up to date as I did for what became American Slang
you can fnd it at www.gaslightanthem.org/newalbum2012.htm
if you are feeling nostalgic, you can still read the American Slang Chronicle at www.gaslightanthem.org/newalbum.htm

but I did yea I see now. After checking his blog, I think I thought that there was more about the gaslight album - but there is more info on his blog regarding other topics. Random Question: What would everyone prefer - Spring 2012 or Summer 2012 release? Personally, I am feeling a mid May release...

| If the album was completed before the end of 2011 then i would like to see a mid-March release date. One because that's my birthday and two cos I think March is a good time to release an album just before the early summer months like April and May. | |

Why is "tomorrow" not in the list of options? Honestly, right away in 2012. Winter is absolute hell for me.

| personally, of course i'd love to get a new album as soon as possible, who doesn't. but being realistic, i don't care if it's winter or summer, as long as it gets delivered and is as good as their previous ones. i'm sure (as we all are in here, i assume) that it's gonna be a great album and the wait is going to be worth it! | |

Horrible Crowes and winter will have us really depressed. That's why we need an early gaslight release to cheer us up!

Maybe we have to wait? That was November... the day after Thanksgiving/Black Friday. 2010 was the first time they did the Back Friday RSD. I do hope they make a habit out of it!

| Brian has just told Spin that the band's next record will be closer to The '59 Sound. "It's all about knowing your audience," says Fallon. "When I buy a record by a band and it sounds completely different, I'm just like, 'Why didn't you change your band name?'"
As I prefer the sound of American Slang to The '59 Sound, which I am almost starting to see as a nostalgic concept album, I'm not sure that this is necessarily good news. There is a difference between a sound developing and being completely different.

| To me this is good news , whilst i absolutely love American Slang there is something more heartfelt and relatable about the 59 sound that makes me like that album more , i could listen to that album any time and not feel bored by any one song American Slang is different i kind of have phases of liking each of the songs. I did see an interview with Brian were he said something along the lines of "we could churn out the 59 sound again and again" so that doesn't sound good. I think possibly soundwise it will be closer to 59 sound but work on new themes and also include more songs like Diamond Church Street Choir and Queen of Lower Chelsea that have moved the band on in a way. | |
