Make a Setlist for the "Get Hurt" Tour

Figured it'd be fun to speculate what you think a setlist will look like on the upcoming tour in support of Get Hurt.  No right or wrong answers obviously, but I tried to do something that I thought was realistic.

1. I hope they play all of the new songs. As much as possible. I think the new songs from "American Slang" and "Handwritten" disappeared from the setlists too quickly, leaving only 2 or 3 from each album that remained in rotation.

2. I wish "'59 Sound" would be moved out from the top of the show. I think it would be much better as an encore song.

3. A significantly longer show. They're a headlining band with 5 albums of material and need to be playing for 2 hours, minimum.

I see Stay Vicious as the opener, and Dark places must finish the set list before an encore. I think they'll get away with the 59 sound maybe as an encore. Regarding some of the new songs, they won't play them all. as far as they've showcased their pedalboards effects, some big ones are lacking for some new songs (like the wah wah).

I guess there will be the stripped down version of boxer too. Might take some time to do a real setlist.

I would say that they should include songs from every album...and obviously the most from Get Hurt

I agree. It seems like the last year or so they stick with a basic outline for a setlist and mix a few up here and there. Which is cool. I feel like they used to have more variety night to night.

I think there's enough mix that it doesn't annoy me but nothing drives me more crazy than bands that play the same exact set every night.

every night. Open with 1000 years one night, Mae the next etc. It always adds

Most definitely agree. I've been lucky enough to see a couple 2 hr shows but they're definitely not the norm. Lately it seemed like they got into a pattern of these 20-22 song sets that I found a little underwhelming. With all the new songs, it seems like a 2 hr (28-30 song) set should be the baseline. Hell, in the fall of 2010 they were playing ~25 songs per night.

I've been saying Gaslight should be able to open/close with any song in their catalog for ages. Sure some songs are more natural in those spots but the spontaneity of the mixed up setlists would be great. Seeing them adopt a PJ-esque "Any song at any time" mantra would be beyond awesome.

They were messing with their keys back at the Stone Pony last year so I think that may play a part in being able to play different set lists as much as possible.

As long as Bring It On is brought back ill be happy. I've seen them 15 times and have never heard the song

Nice to see others like to see 59 in the encores ,will have a think on set lists soon

I guess it's cheating to post after the tour is done, but I managed to see 2 different shows, one on each leg of the tour, and the setlists were pretty different. Stay Vicious opened the first show, and wasn't on the setlist for the second one. '59 was an encore number the first one, and early on in the second one. First show, Great Expectations and Backseat were not played, but they were towards the end of the second one. Mae was included in the second show, thankfully.
