Heh, reminds me, one of my coworkers spotted me enjoying the free coffee in the break room after my shift after I had already changed out of my clothes and was apparently surprised by the difference it made. (Supermarket bakery is full uniform with a coat and trousers that stupid cap and have to keep my hair in a tight ponytail for health and safety and stuff, compared to baggy cargo jeans, over-ear headphones, a Nirvana shirt and shaggy long hair kept in check only by a beanie with more band-buttons). Also, because of that uniform I get mistaken for a woman/girl once a day on average from behind or from people just not looking all that well because of my ponytail, it's getting kinda funny. But yeah, work's a sort of personality-click for me too, from rather short-tempered and sarcastic to polite and customer oriented (as far as I can manage) and so on. Makes sense, as it's only a temp student job and I need to money, so I'm not gonna be my usual ehh, sorta jerkass-y self there. But this does sound a bit extreme for even such a type of mental 'work mode' click.

- Well, I asked her if she was doing anything Friday night. She said no. I then asked her if she wanted to hear me play original music that night. Her response was "maybee". The fact she didn't laugh in my face like the last one, I consider that a success. Now to see if she shows up.
Now I've got a different woman messaging me on FB, and she seems into me. She's typing a lot of "lols" at the end of her sentences. I said I love talking to you and she responded "so do I". She even offered to take me to a bar. I may have asked the wrong girk out. Oh well, I asked the one out first and it would be rather horrible if I did anything to break it off. You can just go out with both of them and see if either goes anywhere.

Well "do you want to see me play some music?" doesn't really sound like asking someone out.

| Yeah, asking somebody to come watch you play music isn't asking them on a date. It's asking somebody to do you a favor. | |

| This guitar is driving me crazy.
So I'm trying to play Old White Lincoln, right? So the chords online say to use a capo on the third fret. I didn't have a capo till today so I was working on it as normal and it sounded okay but not quite right. So I got the capo today, put it on, and it sounded completely off. (I also bought a new tuner so I know it was in tune.) The comments said to tune it a step down instead of using a capo, which I did and now it doesn't sound even remotely correct.
These are the chords I'm using: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/t/the_gaslight_anthem/old_white_lincoln_acoustic_crd.htm
And this is what I'm trying to replicate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkyqsrCfCu0
Does anybody know what I'm supposed to do that I'm obviously not doing?

Does anybody know what I'm supposed to do that I'm obviously not doing? Well, in that video, he's playing with the Capo one the 2nd. Also wouldnt be surprised if he's tuned down half a step, so it's possible that to get that sound w/ normal tuning you'd need it on the 1st. Try it with the capo on the 1st and 2nd and see which sounds more accurate, would be my suggestion.

| Anyone here from Canada? I'm going there next month and want to check out if any cool bands are playing there (more specifically Vancouver and Montreal), is there a good site to browse for that kind of stuff? | |

| Hey Paddy you old drunkard.
I'm just about drunk enough to go take part of my first sorority party. As in, not some random college party, but a party in which only the ones who are aspiring teacher students (which I am) can partake. I have a feeling there will be lots of annoying club music so here's to hoping I'll survive.
