And writing ALL that is probably the most productive thing I will do in the office today after about four hours of sleep. The two and a half hour travel, one way, was still SO worth it!
Co-worked allready commented I look a bit tired today, LoL.

At the DC show In December, Brian explained on stage that they ask Alex to do something weird during his solos for HLAYK at every show, so that could be why Alex did that!
Thanks for the review!

LoL, that MUST be it. It didn't seem like something he would do. As one who is #2 in the band after Brian, he just seems to interract with the crowd very little. Obviously I'm perfectly fine with it, I'm just wondering if he's maybe a little shy. I don't know, and as long as he plays like that, I honestly don't care either. It was just so funny, I looked over at him right before he went off stage and saw him do it, and I was thinking, what's happening now, is THAT Alex R walking off into the crowd...

I tried tweeting Brian & Benny yeasterday, a good few hours before the show, asking them to play 'River's Edge' in Oslo, also I made another tweet saying 'note to self: do not sing along to TGA's '45 on the train like you do when alone in the car' or something like that, and Benny favouritemarked the tweet, so I'm hoping they saw my request for 'River's Edge' and all, but don't know if that's why they played it, but I certainly like to think so. They don't play it that often, right?
Yeah I think they don't play it that often and I'm sure your tweet triggered it being played

From the opening riff of Howl and 'till they finished Baba with Brian lying on the floor, the band was absolutley on fire, and so was the crowd, at least in the front where I was, right behind enola, who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time yeasterday.
It was a pleasure meeting you too! I'm always glad to meet fellow DSS people esp if they are so nice as you are! I hope you can make it to Gothenburg

- Here's Looking...: Alex R pretty much stood in his place all night, looking that at his guitar, then for his solo he jumped off stage and played it down by the rail next to the crowd in front of him. Brian looked over to his spot with an expression on his face saying 'so, where did Alex go'. Don't know if it is a routine thing or not, but it didn't feel like it, and it was very funny.
It's not. He does step to the edge of the stage sometimes but this time the other guys made him go down. Great moment of the gig. Also I love his solo during the song
And thanks for the review!

Did anyone notice that? As far as I remember Brian often used multiple guitars for the liveshows before, but used the same guitar for the entire Düsseldorf show (if I'm not wrong).
How about the other concerts on this tour?
I don't know if this means anything, and maybe I'm crazy..this is just what I noticed
In London he didn't change the guitar the first night but did play one song (I don't remember which one) with another one in the second night. Also Ian and Alex L. changed guitars in the second night.

So Stockholm was the weakest of the Scandinavian gigs so far. Don't really know why, the crowd was great and the show started off quite well too. Might have had something to do with Benny hurting his head before the show or maybe something else. But don't get me wrong it was still a good show just not so relaxed/fun/cool like the two other shows.... Guess we are a bit spoilt already
And the venue was so beautiful! http://instagram.com/p/Xu7bFJQnFh/
As we were standing quite far to the side this time I filmed a few songs:

There's no excuse for NY/NJ crowds not singing along like that. What is it with this area.

Yes! Or getting wasted and telling Brian what to do. And if we're not doing that, we're texting or talking to our friends about things that don't matter while the band plays.

I wonder why they love Europe/UK so much when they could have that to put up with?

So the last Scandinavian show yesterday was probably the best of the 4 gigs. They were in top form, the audience was in a great (drunken) mood and the setlist was perfect. Everyone seemed to have a great time - Brian and David from Japandroids stagedived during Baba (which is apparently quite risky in SWE), the guys fooled around on stage throwing stuff at each other and much more what I can't remember right now. Good and fun gig!
So here's the setlist from Gothenburg: http://instagram.com/p/Xx1xGCwnP9/ Additionally they played We Came To Dance which was requested by someone from the audience.
I didn't take a lot of pics during that tour but if you wanna have a look, they are all here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151412086458878.1073741826.786378877&type=1&l=95692c8da8

Thanks for sharing your experiences Manuela. It's absolutely rad how many kilometers you have traveled to see the Gaslight Anthem.

Thank you, Thomas. All the travel and the little sleep is more than worth it though. Not just for Gaslight but even more for sharing this experience with my friends. I don't think I would do that many gigs if we weren't this group of absolutely amazing, cool and fun people!
Talking of friends. Here's another perspective of Howl in Copenhagen (thank God you can't really hear me )

Absolutely amazing! But I'd like to hear you singing though..
I wished he did that in Düsseldorf too. Maybe the crowd was just to large to get that personal.. (have you been in Düsseldorf too?)

Whoooah! That's awesome...why didn't you come on stage?
I just didn't dare to go on stage. It was such a huge venue, so many people. I just didn't feel comfortable going up there, too much attention. Maybe I will go on stage when it's my 100th show! hehe

Very well said Manuela!!! It's the same for me. I would never do so many gigs if all of you weren't there to share it with! And it's not just the gig itself but the pre gig dinners, the queuing, the after gig drinks and dinners, the traveling what makes it so special. I'm very thankful that I met all of you and I hope that we will go on many more adventures together!!! Roll on june and july!!!
