I love taking the train, get to see so much more of the countryside, sure a bus or car might get you there quicker, but trains are so much more rural. Love them. Did the train from Amsterdam to Berlin once, that was fun, and different.

Trains can be convenient. My life is made so much easier because I can get a train to the middle of London quicker (and cheaper) than it is to drive.
