And why would you assume that I lack respect of women? It's totally fine for women of this forum to talk about men in the very same fashion, but as soon as men do it about women it's degrading? I don't see what's so wrong about finding sexual attraction in a mother who, by all definitions of the word, is hot. For me it's about recognizing her maturity and the fact that she's a real woman. Would you rather I was attracted by 13 year olds?

I thought the whole mother discussion was disturbing, like Oedipal Complex disturbing. It's like a young woman who marries a guy 20 years older than her because her dad abandoned her or was emotionally distant or whatever. It's disturbing because they are looking for a parental void to fill, but find it in a spouse/significant other. Of course it's not as bad as being attracted to a CHILD. That is illegal, immoral, and disgusting. You can't even compare the two.

And I don't remember ever objectifying men in this forum or anywhere else. Saying a guy is good looking is not disrespectful in the least. But if I said I would like to sleep with someone's dad just because he's a hot older dude and has kept himself in shape, blah blah blah, or that I think that male strippers or porn stars just had healthy self esteem and there was nothing wrong with them selling their bodies, I would expect someone to call me out on it too. But I wouldn't do that because I have more respect for men than that and more respect for the entire human race than that! These women are people, John. Would you want someone talking about your mother or sister like women have been talked about tonight? I hope not.

I never said YOU do, but there's been several occasions of women on the forum throwing around sexual remarks, even about other forum members. I don't recall anyone ever having said they're disgusting or demeaning or degrading. Because it's NOT.
There's nothing respectless about wanting to have sex with someone and the very implication is ridiculous. What do you want me to do? Look at an attractive woman and be all "She is attractive, but that doesn't matter - All I want is to discuss politics and the latest books with her, because she's an individual and NOT an object!"

Reality doesn't work that way. What, do you think I randomly walk up to women and say stuff like "You should sleep with me because that's all you're worth"? No, of course not. Because I respect women. Discussing desire for women with your friends has nothing to do with a lack of respect.

It was the way everything was said. It just seemed to me like there was no respect, it was all about meaningless sex and that was it. I think that's wrong for anyone, male or female. I'm not trying to push my moral standards on anyone else, but I just don't go around thinking, "I want to sleep with him." "I think my dad's friend is hot. Too bad he's married." To me, that's just thinking of someone as an object, not a person with feelings and thoughts and a life. That's how the conversation tonight came across to me. Maybe that's not how you meant it, but that's how I read it. And I don't think I'm the only one with this opinion.

I don't claim to have a perfect moral compass (far from it), of course I see nothing wrong with admiring an attractive person, and I don't go around bashing men or women who do because that is totally normal, but I just feel that it went too far here tonight and it offended me.

All things in life don't have to include meaning - Sometimes having fun is just enough, and that's just fine.

Sometimes that's all it is. Meaningless sex. I've done it, and I enjoyed it, but me not having any feelings for some of the girls doesn't mean I didn't respect them.
