Sometimes it feels like I'm a single parent and I'm the only one who's ever there! It can be stressful, but I'm used to it and I can handle anything when it comes to kids, so I'm the one that holds that family and their crazy schedule together. The girls' dad actually told me that today, so yea me! Razz

Hahahahahaha! I WISH! I haven't gotten a raise in four and a half years! I barely make enough to pay my bills and don't make enough to actually live. Part of that is my fault (Hello Visa, hello MasterCard), but still. I do WAY more work than I am paid for. WAY MORE. THEY DON'T EVEN REALIZE HOW MUCH I DO. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I'm just a tad bit bitter about that, if you can't tell. Rolling Eyes

Basically, a big part of my job is to make sure the parents are free to concentrate on their jobs when they are not at home. I have everything covered, I worry about the day to day stuff with the kids, and I make sure the kids feel as little stress as possible from their parents. I am the happy-go-lucky fun person in their life (even though I am a big bundle of stress and nerves inside and in my real, non-work life), so that's why I'm the glue. I hold EVERYTHING together.

The girls' mom is a very in demand and high profile doctor, and their dad is retired Navy, who is now a government contractor working with Navy EODs (military bomb squad) coordinating missions, plus he's going to college to get his MBA. Both of them have very demanding jobs, but they do try their best to balance work and home, and are very dedicated to their kids, sometimes their priorities just get out of whack. I'm the one constant that is always there, no matter what.

Why must people get oddly competitive about bands they've seen with me? Surely this happens to some of you too.

Example (from today):

Me: How big was the crowd at the Frank Turner show?

Other Person: About 1600

Me: Wow he really is bigger over there. I fear soon he'll be playing Hammerstein and Roseland and then I will be sad.

Other Person: Oh hush. I saw him when he played to 50 people

Basically it comes down to "I liked that band way longer than you have."

I suppose I know why people do this. It's just stupid is all.
