| Just got back from their show. "Perfect" is a fairly good word. Setlist looks about the same as oldgospelchoirs except they played Jetlag instead of Polaroid and the Encore consisted of The Postal Service's The District Sleeps Alone Tonight (I'm like 99% sure that was the song, but could be totally wrong and don't feel like filling my head with other music to confirm right now) and Photosynthesis (no third song, but Photosynthesis was extra long as he tried to get everyone (bartender and security people included) to sing along)
Andrew Jackson Jihad was solid but some asses decided they wanted to mosh (I mean, I know its folk punk but they are playing acoustic guitars... seriously??). The guys actually called some people out being like "hey make sure the people you are crashing into actually want to be crashed into" but it was towards the end and didn't really help much. But both them and Into It Over It sounded great, the moshing just made it a little harder to enjoy Andrew Jackson Jihad's set. The crowd during Turner's set was great though, no moshing, just a ton of people singing along with every word at the top of their lungs (and then quieting up when he did English Curse because on that song we really do just wanna hear Turner's amazing voice). Will probably be my favorite concert of the year (even if fest will probably be my favorite set of concerts)

The first song of the encore was indeed The District Sleeps Alone Tonight. Also, Nights Become Days was on the printed setlist but was replaced by Jet Lag. Before Jet Lag, Frank told a brief story how someone that had been to a couple shows had requested an old song and that he was going to play it for them. That someone was me. The next night in Vancouver he played Worse Things Happen At Sea for my buddy. Frank rules. - Quote :

I was up front and it was nearly impossible to enjoy AJJ's set with the moshing/pushing/crowd surfing. The scary part is it was even worse the night before in Portland.

| As much as I love punk rock, moshing usually does bother me. It can be fun on occasion, but I usually only enjoy when I don't like the band, because when I do like them, I find it impossible to really pay attention to what they're playing. To each their own, I guess. I've found that generally if you stand to the far side of the stage, you can still be up front and not get pushed around too much.
That said, the crowd at the show I was at was fine for AJJ. There was a good share of people singing along, but no one really tried to mosh. No one really did during Frank's set either.

Yeah, I know. I certainly wasn't complaining, I love Jet Lag. He basically played all my favorite songs of his. (Seriously, I think he might've played my top ten favorite songs of his. Certainly makes up for not even getting to hear Prufrock the first time I heard him ) - Quote :

I was up front and it was nearly impossible to enjoy AJJ's set with the moshing/pushing/crowd surfing. The scary part is it was even worse the night before in Portland. I *was* up front. Got there when doors opened, wasn't at the rail because I had to waitin the will call line, but still in the second row of people. I could tell something was up when this creep clearly on something wedges his way up next to me after Into It Over Its set doing the whole "If I get up really close they'll be creeped out enough that they'll scoot over to the side" kind of deal. Then the music started and I suck at holding my ground. Didn't deminish my enjoyment of Turner though. - Quote :

I completely agree with you. Like, I can understand why people like it -- for them the moshing is the main point of the experience. And I certainly don't mind the dancing with friends or everyone trying to push up close to the stage. Thats all like, part of the concert experience. The problem with moshing is when you don't care about the people around you. Found some people who all want to run into each other and have a good time? Great! But don't get carried away and bowl over people next to you. For someone like Frank Turner on Gaslight I want to be focused on two things: The guys on stage, and belting out every single word in my horrible off key voice. I don't want to have to worry about getting knocked over because someone cares more about running into people than singing along.

| Wellwell. Frank Turner is my new best friend siince last summer! Maybe a year ago or so I listened some of his hits, but wasnt immediately hooked. Last summer I bought England Keep My Bones that was it. Always laughing when I hear "not every one can be, FREDDIE MERCURY". Theres no better line than "we can drink whiskey, we can play cards and we can get wild". And I also believe in...i guess you know what . I dont got posters of Bob Dylan and Hemingway, but sometimes life truly feels like it weights ten thousand tons. If ever I stray someone better fucking drown me in the lake that I see from my window, save my life and drown me again. Just moved back to my hometown so I know that there is no place like home and I too dont believe in imaginary beasts or any religions. But after a while I think that Love Ire & Song. Judt too many great songs. Its a shame that he doesnt come to Finland in this Europe tour and Im going to London, but 3 fucking days late. Just noticed that. And then he goes to Germany and when Paris gig is going on...Im on a plane (and I do fucking complain ) going home. Life sucks and then you fucking die. Maybe I go to Wembley. And im sure he comes to Finland. Hes allrady been here I think 4 or 5 times. But then I was just young and stupid. Still the same, but maybe just a little bit wiser. Maybe ill survive somehow |

| Frank Turner not only have great songs, he have some great videos too. Whats your favorites? I like Real Damage and Reason Not To Be An Idiot. Wessex Boy is kinda funny when you know that Frank was in States when that video was filmed and you see palm trees and everything and there's this guy singing a song about his hometown in England . But whatever. And the guy thats in leather jacket, with a beard and a guitar looks just like my cousins little brother. So much that I had to ask him about that |

| Yup I ordered a copy all the way from England and I just got it yesterday. It came with a sweet set of buttons - one of each of Frank's album covers. Lots of cool songs on this. I don't know if most of these songs were available elsewhere but I haven't been as obsessive about Frank as I have with some other artists so a lot of them were new to me. I had the Rock & Roll EP songs and the EKMB bonus tracks, but not the rest of it. | |

| About half of those songs were already available thru various media outlets....it's nice to have all of it under one title. |

| Saw Frank last night. He played a couple of new songs - "Tattoos" and "Four Simple Words." Pretty good show overall although for some reason he cut off the last part of "The Road" which was disappointing. Not sure if that's a permanent change to the song or what. | |
