Brian is a possible Gibson Signature Artist for 2011

"Gibson Signature artist suggestions for 2011 so far include Brian Fallon, Neil Young, James Dean Bradfield, Jimmy Stafford & @neil_mccormick"

I am DYING over here; for Brian AND James to not only be mentioned together but also both be in the running for this... my year has been made. My existence belongs to these guys!

Not to be a downer, but the previous tweet was "We're still asking which one guitarist should have their own signature Gibson guitar in 2011? All suggestions taken seriously..."

I wouldn't like there to be a Brian Fallon signature model, you can basically go out and buy the model he uses anyway and it wont say Brian Fallon on it, i dont really like the idea of sig models on the whole because why play a guitar with somebody elses name on it. Its yours.

I just think it's very awesome. I know they're just suggestions, but I like to hold onto hope with these things! It was really floored to see those two names side by side. Here's hoping that Gibson REALLY takes the suggestions seriously!

does anyone besides me think this is kind of a waste....I mean its not like Brian has this one special guitar that makes this one special sound that they can make a model of.

he just has p90's in his les paul doesn't he? or are there any other major differences compared to the standard les pauls you can buy?

Im pretty sure he had some custom done wiring or something but that might be his amps cant remember.

That's a 1956 Vintage Goldtop Les Paul. They have P90's in them standard.

If anything defines 'Brian's sound' I guess it would be his amps ('59 sound eh), not really his guitar no.

Agreed. As he usually constructs his own amps.

He uses a Dr z Remedy head. Theres 2 for sale on ebay at the moment which were used on the uk tour

Being a guitar gear nerd myself, like Brian is, I have to say I don't want him to have a signature model. Not that he doesn't deserve it, because he does. But, signature models are worthless in my opinion. It's another way guitar manufacturers can ramp up the prices on an already expensive guitar. Brian's been playing a Gibson Les Paul, which most guitarists would agree that it is the first "signature model" since Gibson contracted Les Paul to play the new body shape being put out by Gibson in the early 50's.

I've had my eye on a 1956 Goldtop Reissue, like Brian has, for years now, I just don't have $3,700 to buy one. It will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine. Brian has an amazing tone, always has and from what I hear from bands they used to play with is that he, and the rest of the band, too, have always had great taste in gear and I must say that's true. The Dr. Z amps Brian has been using are phenomenal boutique amplifiers. Even the Orange Tiny Terrors they had for a while are beasts of amps even at 7 watts.

Couldn't agree more ^^^. Isnt Brians the 56 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop VOS , im going to try and get one this year i think , it has become my ultimate dream guitar.

Yep. I'm pretty sure he has a '56 and a '57 or '58. Might be all three. I've seen the '56 so many times, but lately I've seen pics with him playing a buckered LP, too so that might be his '58, which next to the '56 is one of the BEST Gibsons ever made.

My next guitar, hopefully for my birthday, will be a Fender '52 Telecaster. I've wanted one for ages and it's about time I own one, haha.
