| Hey all:
Well, I just pruned the board pretty good and merged and renamed a few topics to help make navigation and moderation of this site a little easier. Topics having no reply within the last few months were deleted, some dating back one year since we created this forum!
If anything is still confusing, let us know, but it looks good for now!
Phew!

What kind of topics were they? If someone posts some useful info about a boot, for example, which results in a brief discussion, is this not worth keeping, given that topics are searcheable? Of course, I don't know what the storage limitations are for the forum, but should substantive TGA threads not always be retained? Abandoned general chat, other bands, etc. are more obvious targets for weeding.

| I don't think I deleted anything important, they were mostly old news items and general chat and spam threads - nothing serious, don't worry!
We do have space, but the other question is just making it easier to navigate!

kropo Thanks for reasuring me and for looking after the forum. With my historian hat on, I never like to see any information being destroyed (whereas archivists love weeding things).

| All information exists in some other netherworld somewhere! I deleted topics untouched for over 6 months. I guess I'm an archivist than ;-) But I love history too! | |

Exactly! Now, for a Hot Nudie section and another one on Bongs, those will NEVER be deleted! I mean, NEVER! ;-) e7c - there is in the admin panel something called 'automatic pruning' where threads are deleted if there is no response in it for 90 days, what do you think? Some of our subjects hadn't been even looked at in a year! This place was full of weeds!

Automatic pruning sounds like a really bad idea. A thread can make useful reading even if it attracts no further replies after a while. This applies especially to threads on specific gigs or items of news.

| Yeah, we don't want the tabs threads to be deleted especially. Let's turn on manual pruning. | |

| Maybe if there was a set date for the forum to be manually pruned it would be the best of both worlds. Say like the last day, every third month or something? |

| i understand getting rid of random threads that don't really make much sense or have any relevance after people have finished chatting on there but i don't think we should get rid of too much stuff cos what's useless to some people is interesting to others. whatever's being deleted needs to be carefully thought about cos even if some of the topics aren't relevant they're quite fun and it's nice for people who join the board to think we do chat about other things than tga all the time? sorry bit of a ramble there but think you get my drift?! | |

| I don't think that's anything we can fix, it's in the code of the forum. I've never had a problem with the search, what have you had problems with? | |
