Vampire Weekend

I have heard about Vampire Weekend for a long time but never listened to them until today when I heard there cover of Rancid's "Ruby Soho" (my second favorite song of all time!) and I thought it was interesting.

Anyone have any feelings on these guys? Are they worth getting into?

Their first album was pretty fun and worth a few listens, but I'm not feeling the new one. Although their new album does seem to have some allusions to The Clash/Joe Strummer which is interesting, as I wouldn't have expected it from them.

loved their first album,their second hasn't grown on me yet,probs will.

Their first album is really good, I've only listened to their second only once, I have to give it another go before I Have a fully formed opinion on it. As for their Rancid cover, A lot of people hated it, I thought it was a good, interesting take on a classic punk song

I thought it was interesting how many people were saying "Rancid is just a Clash rip-off"

...umm what do they think Vampire Weekend is?

and for the record, being Clash influenced should never be an insult!

I haven't really been into either album, and A-Punk really got on my nerves for some reason... I like the idea they're going for but it just hasn't clicked for me.

i'm definitely in the middle with this band, not really sure.

the song "holiday" is awesome from the new album,apart from that not really into it.

First album was very good, second was good but not as good as the first. Saw them in Manchester in February and they weren't amazing. But seeing them again as part of this volunteer program so that should be decent.

Really can not get into this band despite all the hype it really dosnt do anything for me.

If you like these guys though definitely check out Surfer Blood.

I have Surfer Blood's record, not really sure about them.

Only heard one song from Surfer Blood but I liked it.

Check out Local Natives though. It's like the African influences of Vampire Weekend blended with the harmonies of Fleet Foxes. Good record.

Bought Local Natives too, apart from Airplanes nothing really intrigued me on it.

"Warning Sign" is a great cover. Really improves on the Talking Heads version and I love the Talking Heads. Other great songs on that are "Sun Hands", "Camera Talk", and "Wide Eyes." I mean it's not a 5 star album but I really like it.

so much fun at sasquatch, they got probably the biggest reaction of the whole festival.

Yeah they put on a good show at sasquatch.
