There's some real headscratchers on that track list but there's also some that I'm really looking forward to. I'll probably pick it up I guess, considering it's for a good cause.

Looks like a fun bunch of songs, my expectations regarding overall quality aren't too high though.

that's awesome!! one of my favorite Dylan songs. i can already hear Brian's rhythm guitar on the Gaslight version. or maybe it'll be a stripped-down version with Alex R on melodica, Alex L on upright bass, Benny with egg shakers, and Brian singing the whole thing in falsetto.

Best Dylan Cover EVER

That made me listen to Street Legal again. It's beginning to grow on me, never really liked it before. I'm really excited for Bad Religion's version of Baby Blue. And Changing of the Guards, obviously.

Street-Legal is one of my least favorite Dylan albums (it's the first album where he unintentionally parodies himself), but I am stoked to hear TGA do "Changing of the Guards." That's one that Brian can knock out vocally, and one that rolls along in a way that I think will fit TGA's mode. The rest of the tracks look super interesting. Tribute albums are inevitably mixed bags by their very being, but when you have four discs worth, there are bound to be some great takes. + some horrible ones, but again, four discs, so whatever. Dylan is an artist whose songs can be shaped and molded in any number of directions. His music is incredibly malleable. That's why you can have great covers from both The Byrds and Jimi Hendrix within the span of a few years. Artists who could not be more different doing things that could not be more different and still having interesting takes on Dylan's music. You can't really do that with The Beatles or a band like that, for whatever reason. I think it's because their music is so immaculately perfect that hearing a different group's take just sounds weird. Dylan, on the other hand, made imperfectly perfect music which was/is much more open to interpretation. Love Dylan.

Great tracklist! But Adele and Maroon 5... hmm.

Definitely! I'm just incredibly annoyed by these two artists (if you can call them that way...) Their music lacks good lyrics, and the melody is just pathetic, so I'm surprised they will sing Bob Dylan.
Who knows, maybe they'll start making BETTER music now

Yeah, I wouldn't call Ke$ha and Miley Cyrus artists at all. I don't think they are worthy of singing Dylan's songs based on their own music, but I like your optimistic view. Maybe this will improve their musical offerings for the future. But overall, this tribute should be awesome!

I second that. Adele's cover of "Make You Feel My Love" is really good. I'm a huge Dylan fan and tend to be critical of covers, but this one is definitely worth listening to.

I try to keep on w/e TGA is doing musically....I'm sorry but Kesha, Miley and even Maroon 5 (whom I happen to like), and Natasha Beddingfield have NO earthly business being on this tribute, they just don't. I'm not even a big Dylan fan to begin with, LOL. Ones I'm looking foward to the most besides the obvious are: Sinead O' Connor, Adele, Evan Rachel Wood & Seal, Cage The Elephant, and Patti Smith.
