Horrible Crowes - Elsie (Yeah I'll catch some crap for this one, but honestly I don't like this record at all)

2011 has been a ridiculously great year for music, so I'm not going to even try to rank things or limit this list, because that would drive me nuts. Instead, I'm more just using this to organize myself here.

These were all pretty good, but nothing was mind blowing. hopefully we'll get some good stuff the next few months.

Colmillionaire, Harbortown, I am shocked! Elsie was by far the best album released this year. At least you seem to have come to your senses now, Harbortown.

There are so many albums I haven't heard yet, too. Raveonettes, Thursday, Florence and The Machine, M83, DJ Shadow, Dum Dum Girls, Malkmus and The Jicks, and many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. Looking forward to hearing/seeing the new Tegan and Sara live album/dvd in a couple weeks, too.

One of the best years in awhile for great albums, imo.

YES. I had such great expectations for this album but I found it extremely freaking boring.

Oh wow, I totally forgot about Dave Hause. That is a great record. It came out in January or February so it felt like it had been a lot longer.

radiohead - the king of limbs (seriously, I love radiohead but I barely listened to their two albums)
patrick wolf - lupercalia (not bad AT ALL, but I kinda stopped listening to it after a while, meh)

Polar Bear Club - Clash battle guilt pride is up there with one of my favourite albums of the year!

The new cage the elephant release was certainly disappointing. So was Suck It and See (although that at least had a couple of good songs) but beyond that its been an amazing year for music.

Other good stuff:

New Dave Hause and Chuck Ragan records were fantastic. Bon Iver is hard not to like. Same goes for Adele and Lady Gaga to a lesser extent. Manchester Orchestra's Simple Math was amazing. The Airborne Toxic Event's All At Once disappointed at first, but is now growing on me. I'm certainly missing some stuff too. It seems like every other day I'm rediscovering another great album released this year.

Best EP: This is a Desert by the Henry Clay People

Best Disappointment: Moving Mountains.
