As you will know by now, Steve Jobs died yesterday.

Whether you like or can even afford Apple products or not, his impact on the technology and media we all love and use has been considerable.

I was shocked too. He was a genius, a visionary in the field of technology, and I have great appreciation for everything he has had a hand in creating, especially in the music world. In fact, I'm typing this message on my iPad now. So sad. Sad

A genius and really considering getting a MAC as my next computer.

I'm using an ipod and think it is very usefull especially in my car when travelling. But all this technology takes away the "soul" of music and it is the reason why i went back to records.

I agree, records are the best. You can't go wrong with classic. Still, I love CDs and am fairly certain that I'm addicted to my iPad and iPod. Any way I can get music is fine by me. The only thing I never really understood was 8-tracks, although most of you guys on here are way too young to remember those (before cassettes even!). Smile

Ya...8 tracks. My dad had a couple of them. I now play my records with his old stereo but i ditched the 8 tracks Very Happy
They were kind of a mix between cassettes and VHS (or even Beta).

My mom had some 8-tracks and I had one or two with kids songs when I was a toddler, but they don't hold sentimental value like records do. I do, however, have fond memories of Beta tapes! Oh, the awesome 80s... Cool

I got one of these in 1993 and it was great (you clicked icons instead of entering commands!). I still have it (though not in use).

My dad has been using his products since the early '90's - he got me the first generation iMac too for my eighth birthday too. We're nuts about apple, and this was really upsetting yesterday. Everything that interests me career-wise revolves around Apple products, and I'm using his creations to just type this friggin message. What a loss. :[

My first Apple experience was in school (Apple IIE). My first computer was a Power Mac 7500 and am preparing to purchase a new iMac. Without the iPod of course I would still be relying on a walkman/CDMan, but being able to store everything in a little gadget and seeing how they've improved it over the years is just amazing. Plus the iPod Touch is awesome (when wifi is available of course). I don't know who will take over the reins in this department. Have you seen the Onion article? http://tinyurl.com/3k489ml (Ok for work if pottymouth headlines are allowed) They make a good point even in jest. Sad

@Steady Now: I used that same computer in elementary school back in the early nineties. It was great! That's when I first developed a love for Apple products.

I remember getting picked on for using Apple back in the 90's. Used to get into fights with kids in computer class all the time. Then the iPod came out, showed them who's boss. Use to attend all the events from OS launches to store openings where they gave out free shirts. My own mother even said feels like a distant relative passed.
