A forum dedicated to The Gaslight Anthem - Brian Fallon says: ''For consistent and up to the minute stuff, Dimestore Saints is a great place to check out and hang with some really nice people.''
That was the most wonderful song I have heard in such a long time. If I wasn't in such a great mood about discovering this band, I would be in tears. Do you know what this song is about?
I honestly don't think I've liked a recommendation this much since I was introduced to Lucero around this time last year, so thank you once again. Nare Sugar off of Blackwater is one I really enjoy as well.[/quote]

JJ Grey is the front man for his band Mofro and recently played to a sold out crowd at Headliners. He talks about his musical inspirations as well as getting to play with one of his heroes. There is also a new DVD/CD capturing his live performances and life story called Brighter Days.
So I played some stuff to my dad, he loved it. There's a JJ Grey & Mofro all ages show in Philly, about 2 hours from where I live on Friday, and he was on board at such short notice which means he must've really liked it. Then mum announced today she would be away on Friday night so there'd me nobody at home to look after my younger brothers.

Problem is it's very rare for me to find an all ages show for band I like within the NY/NJ/MA/PA area. Hopefully I'll be able to catch JJ next time he's in the North East.

JJ will be up north in the summer and fall. If there is an 18 or 21and up show and you cannot get in later this year, let me know and I will see if I can get you in with your dad.
In the meantime, there is a JJ Grey board with news, vids, etc.

Hmmm, all these posts about JJ Grey .... You don't happen to be the JJ Grey do you?
Webster Hall has gone and pulled a Webster Hall on me, someone to explain please. JJ's site says he's playing there on May 18th, and then on Webster Hall's website there is no mention of him and it says that on May 18th some other band is playing?

JJ Grey & Mofro Ages 18+ Doors 6:30pm
I will be seeing JJ tonight at a little NE Florida bar: Last night after the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus show in Middleburg, a local musician came up to tell me that her dad loves Ron Paul. Then she said that say that she and her dad will be playing tonight at Preavtt's. She casually mentioned that "JJ and his trumpet player will be sitting in with us to play for Cuz." I asked her if she was talking about JJ Grey who lives like 10 minutes from Preavtts'. She confirmed that JJ Grey will be at this small bar tonight.

Obviously don't trouble yourself or anything but if you were to put the good word in for me I'd be forever in your debt, but the ol' man says he's going with or without me.

She said she hits the small stage at 9 PM.
Wonder if JJ will really show up--she says it is for his good friend Cuz.

If I didn't have way too much to do I'd probably check out the show in Columbia tomorrow. I work for the venue and I've been hanging up fliers for it for a few weeks now.

Here I am talking to JJ about The Angry Johnny Revue--a 13 year old music fan who learned about him from this forum. JJ was very excited to hear about this
