So I sat down to record a really simple cover of Have Mercy, i.e vocals and guitar in one track. I did do that, but then I added like ten layers of other stuff like pianos and harp drenched in reverb, choirs in the background, little bits and pieces here and there.
Feel free to have a listen. https://soundcloud.com/johnzackarias/have-mercy-gaslight-anthem-cover
Woah. Way to make this song your own. You got talent son.
^This. I'm usually not into fan-made covers of songs but you had me intrigued with the ten layers of other stuff, etc. so I gave it a listen and I'm glad I did. That was beautiful. I can't say if I like it more or less than the original simply because you really did make it your own, so it seems like an entirely different song. Really nice job.

You're actually getting better at singing, well done.
If I were to offer some constructive criticism I'd say chill out on the guitar, you need to be waaay more relaxed on that part. Also maybe you should try to find a key that your voice is more comfortable with, you do sound a little bit strained.

Well I did just get over a serious cold, so maybe that had something to do with it Perhaps.

I've heard you sing before. A cold isn't the issue, trust me.

Watched a Whitey Bulger doc a while back. So obviously I went and wrote a song about a mobster lol
Got lucky with it and someone who works for the paper near me asked if they could write something on my music. I'll take it! Meeting with her on Sunday, gotta pretend i'm interesting!
Just figured i'd post it somewhere https://soundcloud.com/jerseyraysed/the-work

Really? Hmmm, I just clicked it, it went to my profile, it's under my band name, The Well Being.. Why do you think it's not right lol?
The link is to the /you/tracks part, so basically links back to your own tracks, IE if I click it I end up on my own couple of tracks

Here's some Boxer for you. https://soundcloud.com/melacksweden/boxer-gaslight-anthem By no means my finest work, a friend asked me to record it so I didn't put a whole lot of effort into it because I figured I'd keep it simple. Oh well.
And hey man, I really liked your Have mercy. I'd love to hear you sing in a lower key, though.

Took a really rather pathetic attempt at "A wonderful life". Why do I even keep attempting to play music? I just butcher everything I touch/
