After hearing "Alabaster" from Jukebox Romeo's playlist, I'm on the brink of becoming a fan. Anyone else into this guys (and how do you pronounce his last name?)

Wow, I remember this guy! I saw him way back in 2004 when he played in Toronto with the Get Up Kids. I remember being impressed and downloading "Suicide Medicine," but I never got around to listening to anything else afterward. I'll listen to the ones you've suggested!

yeah, i do not know who, but i do know that someone had him on his mixtape. it's been the song "the night's disguise"
i really liked the song, so i tried more und now i ended up with two of his albums, so whoever introduced me to him, i really have to thank a lot, it's been my greatest discovery since i registrated.
i really love the makers album, with my favourite song "makers" =)

Vibes had that song on his mixtape and i put "Alabaster" on mine. glad you found a new artist through the mixtapes. that's what they're for, and it's good to see that it paid off

so, yesterday i got to see him for the very first time.
venue was a quite small one in our nation's capital (underneath a subway-line). stage was about half a meter high, about 80 people standing in the crowd. rocky had to get through the crowd to climb on stage, with a cup of tea in his hand^^.
the gig itself was: intense, intimate, passionate. i stood in first line and was really surprised escpecially by his passion, didn't expect it to be that good. he talked to us a lot and even said some phrases in german^^ he also told us he enjoyed the crowd and the gig a lot and i think he was bein honest about that.
afterwards i got to talk to him a little (very very nice guy) and got myself a rocky-tee. a girl i met @ the gig works for a small net-magazine and she will be writing a review including pics and a interview. i will soon post the link for the ones interested.
this gig certainly was some kind of special, one of those that do not happen too often. definitely was worth the 4-hours trip by train.

In anticipation of the gig I'm attending in two weeks I decided to open a thread. haha. There must be some people here that listen to Rocky... I'm out of my mind excited for the upcoming living room tour! Anyone going?
If you've never heard of Rocky Votolato check out Sparks, Red River, Suicide Medicine, White Daisies Passing (this one was actually featured on The OC I think), and Makers... Â Â

I saw him on the Revival Tour a while back and it was pretty cool. He played Suicide Medicine, so I was happy. I don't think many people knew his stuff though.

Yeah, I'm always surprised by how many people have never heard of him since he's good friends with Chuck Ragan, too and has been playing music forever. I missed the RT when they came around through this neck of the woods Still super bummed about that. Where did you see him?

I really like his stuff. I got into him thanks to seeing him on Revival Tour in Boston a couple years ago. Sadly, won't get to catch him on this tour, but the guy's a great songwriter and has a fantastic voice.

The last two waxwing LPs are really awesome. Rocky's brother Cody, who also was in Waxwing, got to form the Blood Brothers after Waxwing disbanded.

I knew the BB part but, to be honest, I never liked the Blood Brother's much... the voice was annoying me. One of my friends during high school was obsessed with them though. I didn't find out about Rocky until like 5 years ago when I moved in with my then-roommate.
Man, I'm so excited for September 4th. I'll bring a box of kleenex to the show because I already know I'll be crying like a little kid who just dropped their ice cream cone.
