seeing them with The Offspring in like a week and a half. i've heard they're a sick live band, but i'm only well-acquainted with Do or Die, Blackout, and various singles from recent years. what should i listen to of their other stuff? Sing Loud, Sing Proud? i'm guessing their last two weren't very good based on the singles

Skinhead on the MBTA is amazing...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_PCOMXwXVA

Blackout is a good album. You should listen to Boys On The Docks (Murphys Pub Version) from Do or Die, it's amazing! That album is pretty solid. They're very good live.

The Warriors Code and The Meanest Of Times are both good albums.

Ah love this band!

I have seen these guys like 6 times with the old lineup before it all changed before meanest of times.

Warriors Code is killer as is Blackout and Do or Die. They are all fantastic though and are an immense live act. I nearly broke my next when I saw them at Brixton Academy.

+1 for the meanest of times. State of Massachusetts, Flannigans Ball, Fairmount Hill, and Johnny I hardly knew ya are all fantastic.

So sick live too, they'll be way better than the Offspring thats for sure

One of my favourite bands of all time. IMO their best records are The Gangs All Here and Sing Loud!Sing Proud! but I'm guessing they won't be playing a lot of stuff from them records at the Offspring shows.

I love Mike McColgan in Street Dogs, but his performance on Do or Die doesn't touch Al Barr on them two records.

I've their 'Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya' EP and when I heard their 'Baba O'Reilly' cover I nearly cried. Haha it's awesome.

I think that EP was an OZ/NZ Tour EP so I dunno if you can get it.

I've also got 'The Warriors Code', which has the classic Dropkick songs like 'The Warriors Code' and 'Shipping up to Boston'.

Love the Dropkicks and when I get some more cash I'm probably gonna get a few more of their albums.

I used to be obsessed with them a few years back. I dunno what it is, but there's something lacking from their last couple of albums which has made me lose interest in them.
Seeing them play a secret show a few years back in a tiny venue is probably one of my favourite shows ever, even if I did have to go on my own!

What are opinions on the latest DKM album Signed and sealed in blood. Its the album thats got me into this band so I obviously like it. I kinda relate to the song End of the Night too.

Since hearing this album Ive purchase The warriors Code and The Going Out In Style (Fenway Park Edition)

I like them all equally at this stage but my main complaint with Going out in style is that a lot of the songs are about the similar things. I guess thats what you get with a concept album. Meanest of Times will be my next stop

Personally I think it's very good. But I enjoyed the last few albums when they came out but they have no staying power. I can't think of more than 5 songs off the last three albums I'd actively seek out now. The 2nd and 3rd albums would be my favourite.

"Blackout" album is their golden record for me. I reccomend it to any firends when they flick through my records. I lost a lot of my heart in the band when Marc "The Kid" Orell left. It was their golden era when he was in the line up. "On the road with the dropkicks" is a dvd me and the rest of the boys in the band always watch before we play Very Happy

I'm still a fan and love to see them play as its still a great live show. The Gangs All Here and Sing Loud, Sing Proud are my favorites; I really like Do or Die and Blackout as well. I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I'm not a big fan of the last two albums. Some decent songs, but to me it's not the same. It may just be coincidence, but they've worked with Ted Hutt on the two most recent, and to me there is a distinct Flogging Molly sound to both albums. I love Flogging Molly, but there has always been a distinct difference in my view between the two bands - Dropkicks being heavier, more metally if you will, with Flogging Molly being more folksy. But the two most recent Dropkicks albums kind of blur that line toward the Flogging Molly sound.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a good quality mp3 of 'Fields of Athenry' The softer version which was a tribute to Sgt. Farrar. I can't seem to find it on I tunes but the You Tube video seems to indicate it was a studio recording.

Alternatively if anyone has the mp3 of this would you mind si mply e-mailing the file to me. I'd appreciate it a lot as I love both versions of the song. PM me for my address.

I hope someone can help me out here.

Cheers guys

I think the reason people in general are reluctant to share that song, and why it's harder to find is that it was a limited run with all proceeds going to the Farrar family.

Just wanted to share to this link - songs from the 2014 Boston St. Patrick's Day Shows and interviews with all the band members in between. I watched it on tv last night and loved it.

http://video.wgbh.org/program/frontrowboston/

I was at all five shows so it also brought back great memories.

Not sure how much longer this will be up because the show was last night and it is on 24 replay but just watched this and it was awesome.

Went to all of their five St. Patrick's shows at Boston's House of Blues this past weekend.
There was something in each of the shows that made me glad I went to all of them.
Had to stand in line in the rain on Saturday and snow on Sunday but it was so worthwhile.
